Color Club ‘Halo Jewels’ Collection – Swatches & Review

Y’all have heard me sing the praises of Color Club a lot recently, especially this past year. I’ve just fallen in love with them, and I think they’re highly underrated! They definitely release a lot of collections in a year, so I understand it can feel a little overwhelming, but I’ve been enjoying the different themes and finishes they’ve been coming out with. And of course, I’m here to post reviews to help make any decisions easier! Their collections are never limited edition, and are always available on their website after releasing, so you never need to hurry and rush and grab a polish before it’s gone.

Now, I don’t like to pay full price for polish when I don’t have to (that definitely helps me buy so many), and I always say for Color Club you rarely have to do that. Follow their Instagram page, or sign up for their email list – they have so many sales throughout the year, you won’t ever have to wait too long for a 40%-50% sale to grab up some new polishes. (And as mentioned, their shades won’t disappear, so you don’t have to worry about missing out on them while waiting for a sale).

So in my last purchase during a sale, I grabbed 2 of their newest collections! Today we’re looking at the ‘Halo Jewels’ collection. This is 6 shades of more jewel-toned linear holographic shades. I mean, they’re so beautiful, I knew I wanted them as soon as they posted pictures of them.

These shades retail for $12 each on the Color Club website, more than their normal price of $8.50 since they are holographic polishes. I picked these up during a 50% off sale, so I paid $6 each. I also highly recommend signing up for the rewards on their website! You get points for each purchase, and can earn $5 and $10 rewards pretty easily. We love deals around here.

Alright enough about savings, let’s get into the swatches!

We’re starting out with ‘That’s Rich’, a bright fuchsia linear holographic. This had a lovely formula, and was thicker, so it could be opaque in just 1 easy coat. I did notice the color deepen up with that 2nd coat, so I do recommend a 2nd coat.

Obviously with all of these shades, the holo effect will be more apparent in my brighter lights, but I will say they’re beautiful shades even in normal lighting. They’ll look a little more sparkly than straight up holographic – but in the sunlight these are absolute BEAUTIFUL.

I did include a photo with flash for all of the shades, and this will give you a little more of an idea of the effect in the sunlight. But it’s always hard to fully capture how beautiful and hypnotizing holographic shades are. You gotta trust me here, okay, they’re even -prettier- in person.

‘Unbreakable’ is an orange holographic shade with a lilac shift to it. Another stunning formula, and basically opaque in just 1 coat. Color Club usually does amazing holographic formulas, and this entire collection is no exception! I did 2 coats for the photo here.

Color Club – Unbreakable

This shade was one of my favorites just for the super interesting color! It’s always hard to say this, but I truly don’t have anything like this in my collection.

Especially in the flash photo, you see more of that purple shift to it! I’m wearing this as a full manicure, and in normal lighting it does pull more purple as well. Super fun, and I love it! I love this collection for the more interesting holographic shades they picked.

Next up we have ‘Diamond in the Rough’ which Color Club describes as an “olive green holographic”. There is a nice golden shift to it as well with all of that holographic sparkle.

This had a little more of a sheer first coat than the previous 2 shades, with some nail line peeking through. But it was easily opaque with a 2nd coat, and a super smooth formula yet again.

In the flash photo, more of that olive green really pops more, especially on the sides of the nails, and it can even look silver in spots as well.

‘Rock On’ can almost look like a black holographic shade at first, but it’s actually a deep green with some smokey gray undertones to it.

This was a super stunning formula and was fully opaque in just 1 coat. Like not even a thicker coat or anything, just 1 coat, no tricks, it’s just a pigmented polish.

In the side view, and with a flash, you can see more of that deep green tone to it, and I love it. Again, a more unique color to my collection than a straight up black holographic would be.

‘What a Gem’ is the bright blue linear holographic of the bunch, and it has the most subtle holographic effect of the 6. The holo in this gives it more of a scattered, sparkly look.

This had another fantastic formula, and was opaque in just 1 coat. These shades were all so easy to work with, and they dry quickly as well, making them perfect for quick nail looks!

Even in my brighter lights, the holo is more subtle, so compared to the other shades it can almost be “disappointing”, but it’s still a lovely base color and polish on it’s own! Always here to be open and honest about all polishes ๐Ÿ˜‚

Last up we have ‘Under Pressure’, a cool toned purple holographic. This had a smooth 1st coat. The color deepens up with a 2nd and it’s fully opaque with just 2 easy coats.

And that’s the collection! All of these polishes have amazing and smooth formulas, and so many were opaque in just 1 coat! I loved painting them on, and I was so impressed! Color Club really impressed me with this collection, and I can’t wait to pick up more of their holographic shades!

If you’re looking for super holographic shades, ‘What a Gem’ is definitely more subtle compared to the others so it might not be a favorite. But overall, I’m glad to add more holos to my collection!

  1. Diamond in the Rough and Rock On have me drooling, wooooooow!!! I find that sometimes blue and red holos aren’t as strong, it’s like the pigments compete with the holo pigment and drown them out a little. What a Gem is still super pretty though ๐Ÿ˜

  2. Amazing photos and commentary! I was lucky enough to spot this entire collection on sale at my local Winners recently. Iโ€™m going to try and incorporate them into winter looks. Color club never fails to deliver when it comes to cool special effects!
