Orly ‘Cloudscape’ Summer 2024 Collection – Swatches & Review

PR SAMPLE

OH hey there! You want to talk about some summer nail polish, don’t you? Let’s do that and continue on with the summer releases!

And we’re getting right into it. Today we’re looking at the ‘Cloudscape’ collection from Orly for their Summer 2024 release. We have 5 cream shades, from softer pastels to bright bold pops, and then one shimmer. This color palette does just feel very summer to me, so it’s perfect if you’re wanting to build up a little summer capsule outside of neons.

These shades are of course available on the Orly website. They’re also available on Beyond Polish’s website for a tiny discount – you can also use my code GingerlyPolished for 10% off individual items (it is affiliated so I’ll make a small commission but no pressure to use it! I just want to get you some savings).

Now let’s get on into the swatches!

This first shade just feels like an essential summer shade to me. It’s called ‘Take Flight’ and it’s a coral-red cream shade, with some definite pink tones to it, and I just love these types of colors for the warm sunny days. It’s bright, leaning almost into neon on the nails.

And this starts us out with a lovely formula! I had some ridges peeking out after that 1st coat, but a 2nd came in and smoothed it out. The color built up and was fully opaque overall, and it was super easy to paint on. Gorgeous!

Next up, we move on into orange with the shade ‘New Horizons’ (hey that’s just like Animal Crossing!). This one is a bright yellow-toned tangerine orange cream.

Just like the previous shade, I had some patches and ridges peeking out after the 1st coat, but the 2nd came in and smoothed it all out. It was fully opaque after that 2nd coat and I had no issues.

Now we’re looking at the one shimmer of the set – it did feel almost a little random to me to have one shimmer in the midst of all of the creams, but maybe that’s just me (and maybe it’s from swatching OPI’s all cream collection before this). Anyways, this is ‘Sunny Side Up’. It’s a primary yellow base that can almost look more orange from that red shimmer throughout it. I will say unfortunately that shimmer does get a little lost on the nails, so I repeat my wish that they had just gone with a cream. Or truly more committed to the shimmer and made it more apparent. Either or here, I’m not picky.

I always expect yellows to be a touch more tricky, but I was able to get this mainly opaque with just 2 coats. I did add a 3rd coat to cover any last patches caused by the ridges in my nails. If you have smoother nails, you’ll be set with just 2 coats.

Now we go back to creams for the rest of the set. Next up we have ‘Field of Wonder’ which is a stunning little light green cream. It’s got some warm yellow tones to it, it’s a soft pastel, it’s just pretty overall.

From the live swatch, you can see this shade was pretty well opaque in just 2 coats – which I’m always impressed by with more white based shades like this. I did end up adding a 3rd coat to cover up my ridged nails – you know the drill, if you have smoother nails you’ll be set with just 2 coats.

‘Stratosphere’ is a soft, cool toned, almost lilac purple shade. Just like ‘Field of Wonder’ above, it was mostly opaque in just 2 coats on my ridged nails, but I did add a 3rd coat to further smooth out. If you have smoother nails, you’ll be set with just 2 coats. And again, I was impressed since it’s another lighter white-based shade. Truly beautiful cream formulas from Orly here.

And then we get to the final shade! This is ‘Indigo Skies’, one of the boldest shades of the bunch. This is a brighter, cool-toned purple cream shade. Once again it’s almost leaning into neon, which feels like a contradiction with how deep it is, but you can just feel it pulsing on the nails.

This shade was a touch uneven – I would guess because it’s such a bright shade. But the 2nd coat comes in and easily smooths it all out. This would make a statement out at the beach, and who wouldn’t love the confidence boost it’ll surely give you.

And that’s the set! Overall we had lovely formulas here – all opaque in 2-3 coats (my ridged nails are always here causing more patches that others won’t have to deal with). The one shimmer threw me off, but that’s just personal preference – nothing wrong with the formula. I can recommend them all, and I think they’ll all perfect for summer.
