OPI Infinite Shine ‘Metallic Mega Mix’ Fall 2024 Collection – Swatches & Review

Oh hiiiii, let’s finally round out the fall posts, shall we? Happy Thanksgiving, we’re all thankful for figuring out our blogging schedule.

But okay, yes, I did already post a review on OPI’s fall release a while ago, you are correct there. But that was the regular lacquer formula, the main 12 piece collection that everyone knows. That’s right, I have to clarify because OPI has recently also been releasing matching collections in their Infinite Shine formula. So lucky me, that means 21 polishes per season to swatch up on up for you all (yes I’m the one “requiring” myself to swatch both collections, but all of these shades were pretty). I don’t know how long this will continue, but we do also have this pattern for the Winter 2024 collections, watch out for 2 posts on that set too!

As mentioned, these are in OPI’s “Infinite Shine” formula, the ones with the shiny silver caps, adn the ones that are a touch more expensive than the regular lacquer line. OPI describes this line as being “gel-like”, locking onto nails for longer wear as well as being super shiny. As always, I can’t speak to the longevity claims, as I’m switching my polish up too often with swatching. I more swatch these for the colors rather than any promised benefits. Maybe you’ll notice something different on your own nails!

These shades (as well as the regular lacquers) are all available from Beyond Polish (as always, code GingerlyPolished gets you 10% off individual items. It is affiliated which would mean I would receive a small commission from each purchase – never feel obligated to use my code when making a purchase. I just want you to save some money). They’re also available from PolishPick – a discount site that I’ve ordered from countless times – their shipping is so fast, and they have incredible prices. Either way, get a nice little discount on these Infinite Shine shades.

Now let’s get on into the swatches!

***

We’re starting with the trio of pinks in this collection, because I do just love a color theme. First up we have ‘Sheen’s All That’. This one is the lightest of the pinks, being a cooler toned blushy metallic with silver shimmer running throughout it. It’s a gorgeous rose gold, and it’s a softer shade to ease you on into the bold colors of fall and winter.

And this shade had a stunning formula to get the party started! It painted on so smoothly and pigmented, being practically opaque in just 1 coat. I always do 2 coats with every swatch, and the 2nd comes in to layer up that color and shimmer and just make it thicker on the nails. Since these are all a more foiled metallic formula, you will have some brushstrokes – but most won’t be noticeable in day to day wear. If you’re concerned about it, painting each coat on as straight as possible can help.

Since these are similar finishes and we have some close colors, I included any similar shades from the regular lacquers. For ‘Sheen’s All That’, you’ll see that ‘Cyborn Again’ is our closest cousin. They both have the same depth, but ‘Sheen’s All That’ looks much warmer. It’s much more of a blush pink, with ‘Cyborn Again’ having purple tones.

We make a jump up in boldness with the second pink of the set, ‘Lip Pink Battle’. It’s still cooler toned because of that same silver shimmer running through but this is instead a vibrant fuchsia pink. It’s a little more fun on the nails, but still holds back a touch to keep us away from a bright summery color.

This sahde was so pigmented and even. It painted on so smoothly and was opaque in just 2 coats. It’s so gorgeous!

Again this shade has a cooler toned cousin in the lacquer release. ‘CosMIC Drop’ is much more purple – but they have the same tone and depth outside of that.

Now for the 3rd pink, it’s time to go BOLD. This is ‘DeJa RoUgE’ (I don’t know how I had the patience to type like that back in my MSN days). This is a very bright magenta, and even though this one has the same silver shimmer running throughout it, the base pink color is much warmer than the previous 2 shades. If you’re looking for a STATEMENT this will be perfect.

With that bright base color, this formula had so much pigment, being almost opaque in just 1 coat. I did paint on 2 coats to further build up the polish around the ridges of my nails, but overall it’s super smooth, and the brushstrokes are barely noticeable in this one. This would also be perfect for the holiday parties!

We do have a bright bold pink-involved shade in both collections. But as you can tell by the name ‘Cyber Cherry on Top’ is much more red, with a pink flash to it. The shimmer in that one is also more subtle and smooth.

We continue on from the pinks and into the other shades. First we have ‘2000 Karats’ and yes of course one always needs more GOLD. We did get 2 in the lacquer collection, but this one is still different. It’s a softer, almost antique gold, with true coppery tones to it. It’s pulling more orange overall – especially when you see it compared against ‘Metallic Rewind’.

This one had a lovely formula, with just a touch of sheerness at the end of my nails after the 1st coat. The 2nd coat comes in and smooths it all out, layering up that pigment and shine. Most brushstrokes disappear into this polish as it dries, giving it a lovely glow on the nails.

2000 Karats – Live Swatch

As mentioned, compared to the gold of the regular lacquer collection, this one is much more coppery toned. It’s softer overall and leans much more orange, while ‘Metallic Rewind’ is fully a true yellow gold. The other gold ‘SaTURN Me On’ is also more olive toned and yellow-y.

When I pulled this set out of the shipping box, my eye was most immediately drawn to this next shade. This is ‘Cos-mo Money’ (something we all wish for) is a stunning deep forest green with a silver shimmer running through. That silver gives it a cooler tone, and it just feels so rich and decadent on the nails, like a gorgeous velvet dress.

You can see in the video that this shade is so pigmented and it’s just stunning. It’s practically opaque in just 1 coat, but I did the standard 2 coats for my swatch. That 2nd coat layers up that shimmer and color, and it’s so velvety on the nails.

(No comparisons for this one as there weren’t any greens in the lacquer release)

Next up we have ‘MillenniYUM’. This one is a bright aqua blue shade that has definite teal-green tones to it. My camera always loves to capture these shades incorrectly, so it’s showing much more blue in the swatch video. But that swatch photo will be more corrected and it shows more of that true turquoise.

Another super pigmented formula here, being easily opaque in just 2 coats. It painted on so smoothly and I had no issues with this one. It’s also one of the smoothest in terms of visible brushstrokes.

MillenniYUM – Live Swatch

‘Y2Slay’ much deeper and more cool toned, being not similar at all. Next to this shade you can really see those green tones popping more.

These final 3 shades then bring us into the neutrals. So if you’re not looking for those brighter color, this trio has you covered.

First we have ‘Stellar Tips’. This is a red toned brown metallic shade with a silver shimmer. This is such an interesting shade, as it can look more rosy and almost cranberry toned, but it also has a brown color to it. It’s fun and unique to my collection and that takes a lot in these days.

I’m a broken record here: this was easily opaque in just 2 coats. It painted on smoothly and evenly, and I had no complaints.

Stellar Tips – Live Swatch

For a comparison, ‘Stellar Tips’ is much cooler toned than it’s closest shade pairing. ‘Millennium Mocha’ is a true copper with that golden shimmer pulling out it’s more orangey tones.

***

Not only is ‘Surrealicious’ a fun name, this was also another favorite color of the set, and another more unique color (for a mainstream brand, okay). This one is a purple toned lead gray shade with silver shimmer. It almost has some pink peeking out as well, once again making it hard to truly describe.

Just like the others, this was so pigmented and painted on so well, especially with that deeper pigment. It was opaque in just 2 coats.

Surrealicious – Live Swatch

‘Surrealicious’ didn’t have a close comparison in the collection – I Just wanted to show it next to the coolest tone purple – next to ‘You’ve Got Nail’, more of its purple, cooler tones come out. But of course ‘Surrealicious’ is much deeper and more gray.

***

Last but certainly not least, we round it all out with ‘Funmetal’. This is a black metallic base filled with silver shimmer. That shimmer gives it some lightness that a stark black on the nails wouldn’t have. It’s perfect if you’re looking to dabble into black nails but you’re not ready for the full bold look.

This shade gives us another gorgeous formula. With a deeper color, it’s so pigmented and basically opaque with just 1 coat. The 2nd coat covers any last patches and it’s lovely all around. It didn’t have a counterpart in the regular lacquer line – with the closest neutral being a true silver.

And that’s the set! I really loved this little “companion” set, as it added in some more colors to work with in the palette. I also just really enjoyed the metallic finish. All of these shades had gorgeous formulas, so I can recommend any of the shades!

Are any of these shades catching your eye?
