Hauling! – Birthday/ChristmasDrugstore Makeup

This is a LONG one. So hold up, and get ready to go. Like get yourself some coffee and just be ready to hang out.

Before I started writing this, I told myself, to make myself feel better, that I was gifted things and didn’t spend that much money. But now that I’m looking at it, I realize I have a problem and just am using the excuse of the holidays. It’s fine.

It’s safe to say I went eye palette crazy. I LOVE eyeshadow palettes. They’re honestly my favorite makeup product, so I just can’t get enough of them. I didn’t include swatches because I’ll be doing more in-depth reviews of them later on.

Enough chatter, let’s just get into the hauling.

First my birthday. I got the Sonia Kashuk ‘Eye on Neutrals’ palette. This was something I had my eye on for so long, but could never bring myself to pull the trigger on the $20 price tag. So I was so excited to get this! It’s 12 matte neutral shadows that will be perfect for using with other colorful palettes.

Up next, Christmas! I got two NYX palettes. Again, high on my wishlist, but I couldn’t bring myself to buy them yet. But that’s what Christmas is for! First up, the ‘Strobe of Genius’ palette. This palette is so beautiful, I can’t wait to bathe myself in it.

Next is the Avant Pop palette in ‘Art Throb’. Those colors are absolutely gorgeous. 2017 is the year of COLOR EVERYWHERE. And this is the perfect palette to help.

So ends the products I was gifted. The rest I bought. IT’S FINE. IT’S FOR THE BLOG, MOM.

First thing, anytime I’m home, I have to go to Five Below. I don’t have one anywhere near me, so of course I need to appreciate it fully when I’m at my parent’s. I love to see what new City Color Cosmetics products they have. I found 2 new palettes there I didn’t have yet.

First up is the ‘Figtastic’ eyeshadow palette. It’s a mix of shimmers and satins. I’ve been trying this one out, so a review will be up soon on it!

Next is the ‘Timeless Beauty’ highlighter palette. It has 4 beautiful shimmery ‘highlight’ shades – although I don’t know how many I can use for face highlighters. But still just pretty to look at.

I then wandered over to Rite-Aid with my cousin to have some good quality cousin time, and that meant browsing the makeup aisles.

I saw a display of the new Physician’s Formula products and was super excited to see the Bronze Booster palettes I had been seeing pop up everywhere. I picked up the Matte sculpt version. These powders look really beautiful, and I’ve been trying them out the past couple of days.

Next up, I FINALLY FOUND IT. IT’S BEEN TALKED ABOUT SO MUCH ALREADY, BUT I FINALLY FOUND THE WET N WILD HIGHLIGHTING GOLD BAR. I’m just a little excited, can’t you tell? But look how beautiful it is. It feels so smooth and unf just beautiful.

Wet N Wild has been killing it on highlighters lately. I love it. *puts it all over my body*

I also picked up 2 of the Lip Glosses because the colors just really intrigued me. And I mean, metallic is in right? I got the shades ‘Ring My Bellbottoms’ (top) and ‘Moxie Brown’.

They have a flat doe foot applicator.

Since they’ve been out a while, I’ll only do quick swatches. I wore one today, and they’re just like any lipgloss – obviously they won’t last long, but they leave behind some nice microshimmer when they wear off, and are nice and moisturizing on the lips. I really like them! L-R ‘Ring My Bellbottoms’ and ‘Moxie Brown’.

I’m sorry, there’s more. I had my 20% off coupon from Ulta so I got some new releases I had my eye on! Yes, there’s more eyeshadow palettes. I have a sickness.

First up is from Maybelline. This is the newest in their ‘Nudes’ line. This is the ’24K Nudes’ and supposedly offers a better, more pigmented formula. I have 2 of the other palettes, so I would love to see how it compares. I’ll be reviewing this one.

Maybelline was BOGO 50% so I picked up another shade of their Loaded Bolds lipstick. I love this line so much. I got the shade ‘Ravin’ Raisin’.

Another new release in a good line of palettes is from the CoverGirl ((Oh my god if you read this before I totally kept saying it was by L’Oreal. I suck)) ‘TruNaked’ line. This is the new ‘Jewels’ shade, offering beautiful jewel-toned colors. And you guessed it – a review is coming on this one too.

Since CoverGirl was BOGO 50% off, I picked up the ‘Goldens’ from this line as well, since I had heard their formula was really good quality.

I also got a couple Essence products because I love their brand, and especially their price point. This product has been hyped up lately, so I picked it up. It’s the ‘Pure Nude’ highlighter.

This other product has been out for a while, but also has a good rep. I can’t get enough of sparkly lid shades so I got the single in ‘The Grammy Goes Glammy’. It’s a nice light champagne color. It has a lovely smooth formula and swatches really well.

Annnnd we did it. We finally made it to the end I swear.

I can’t help my great love for drugstore eyeshadow palettes. But I mean, this means lots of reviews coming up for you guys, so everyone’s winning here. I’ll definitely be getting the new Maybelline and L’Oreal eyeshadow palettes up soon.

What new products are you most excited for?

I hope everyone had great holidays, and I can’t wait to see what 2017 brings us!

  1. I have that Nyx highlighter palette and I love it!! I hope you love it too! I’m not much for highlighters that you can see from space and that’s only because I work in a corporate setting and I’m over 30 so I don’t think that suits but this palette is beautiful! You can go super light handed and have a nice glow or go all out and get some REALLY nice glow! My husband was the one who found it and at first I thought the quality wasn’t going to be that great but it’s really good. I can’t wait for your eyeshadow palette reviews, I’m eyeing the Jewels cover girl one, I hope it’s good! Have a great weekend!
