Lush ‘Roots’ Hair Treatment

I have something a little different on the blog today! It’s a hair treatment, and it’s from Lush! I consider this as more of a post about a favorite product, that I love recommending to other people!

If you don’t know, Lush is a company that specializes in handmade, all natural hair and skin treatments, and are famous for their bath products, specifically their bath bombs – which I love. You can buy their products online at lushusa.com. But I recommend, if possible, go into their stores. The employees are always incredible, and can direct you to the right treatments, and you can smell everything in person. The very first time I went to a Lush store, I spent 2 hours in there as the employees had me try basically every product they sell. It was incredible.

Now onto this hair product!

Now, I haven’t tried too many of their products (something I would love to change someday), but the couple that I have tried I have loved.

I originally got this product as a sample, and loved it so much that when I got the chance to go back, I got it in the full size.

This is the ‘Roots’ hair treatment. It contains olive oil and honey to soften and hydrate the scalp, as well as peppermint and spearmint oils to give a tingly cooling sensation to your scalp.

It’s a thicker white formula, almost like a lotion. The full size, which I have, costs $22.95. This does seem pricey, but this has lasted me since Christmas. I don’t use it every single night, because then I don’t find the cooling is as prominent. I alternate it every so often, so it’s more of a “treat”. So it does last me a while, and I do plan on repurchasing.

I use this every so often in the shower. I grab a nice scoop of it, and put in on the ends of my fingers and start massaging it into my scalp – the amount really depends on how much of the sensation you want on your scalp. Especially with really spending a minute or two to make sure it’s massaged in, and then letting it sit on your scalp for a couple minutes, you can really feel the cooling on your scalp.

This cooling is incredible for when I have headaches (especially with hangovers, Sorry, Mom. It was a godsend New Year’s Day, if you catch my drift). The cooling just really relaxes me, and helps take down my headache. I also find the cooling lasts so long! Even after rinsing out the product, and for a couple hours after using it, I can still feel the cooling sensation on my scalp – it just makes me feel like I went to a spa. It’s not tingling or painful, just a lovely cooling feeling.

Now it says it’s supposed to give fine hair some nice volume and lift. Now, I shower at night and then sleep on my hair, so it can be difficult to tell if a product is truly volumizing. But, even with all of the oils and moisturizing ingredients, I do not find it weighing down my hair, or making my scalp look greasy. I do have fine hair that gets weighed down easily, and my scalp gets greasy easily – so this is a feat all on its own. And my scalp feels healthy, and I honestly think the massaging I do along with this product has helped my hair grow out more and be healthier!

Though I don’t see any life changing volume from this product, I completely recommend this for its cooling properties. It’s a lovely treatment – and helps to relax me and with my headaches. You’ll have to look at your own hair needs to decide, but if you’re looking for something like this, do recommend! It’s a great favorite of mine!
