It’s TIME. It’s the start of NEW ESSIE collections for 2023. And if any other years are an indicator, we’ll have a LOT of collections and releases and I’ll do my best to keep them all straight and reviewed for you – at least with the regular lacquer. I can’t be throwing the Expressie and Gel Couture lines in there too, I’m not made of money. But regular lacquer will keep us more than busy, there are already 4 collections out that I know of, WE GOTTA GO, GO, GO. (Of course, I always say, choose based on your own preferences and budget and likes, no need to buy every collection like I do, I do it to review and help y’all out here).
So let’s look at this first one. This is the ‘(Un)guilty Pleasures’ collection. This one features 6 rich and saturated cream shades, all with a theme around self-care and relaxing. I’m never mad at that idea.
I purchased this set at a discount from Beyond Polish. (exciting, this is now an affiliate link! Which means if you click on that and purchase through it, I’ll receive a little commission. You can use GINGERLYPOLISHED for 10% off your order as well – on regular priced items, not the bundle, but no pressure either way! You can just go to Beyond Polish’s website on its own. I wouldn’t link to any websites I don’t use and trust and love myself). Beyond Polish does also have an Essie bundle that gives you a little discount as well if you’re not comfortable using my code! It’s my go-to place to buy Essie at this point, as they have great prices. But of course, if you want to see them in person or grab a few shades without shipping, they’re also available at Target.
You’ll be seeing me so much for future Essie posts as well, so let’s get right into these gorgeous shades and swatches!
***
Up first we have ‘To Me From Me’, a phrase I say with every single polish purchase. It’s just I deserve to be treated every time of course, especially with a gorgeous dusty, cool-toned blue like this one.
And this formula, Y’ALL. This formula is AMAZING. This glided on and was basically opaque in just 1 coat. It’s so pigmented and smooth and absolutely gorgeous. You can see in the video as well how it just glides on, I can’t say enough good things about how lovely it is.

***
Next up we have ‘Home by 8’ (listen, I relate to this shade, I love going home early). This one is a very deep, almost black, gray-toned purple shade. Especially in the bottle you can see those purple tones coming through. It gives the polish just a touch of warmth to it.
And again, another amazing formula on this one! Another that was practically opaque in just 1 coat, so rich and pigmented, it’s gorgeous. truly raising the bar with cream formulas.

***
Continuing right along we have ‘Snooze In’. This is a brighter pink-toned peachy cream shade. It’s warm but there are definite pink tones there in keeping it from a true orange, adding some softness.
This was another easy 2 coat formula, with the 2nd coat covering and smoothing out any patches and streaks left from the 1st. Again, so smooth and easy to paint on.

***
‘Caught in the Rain’ is a medium, dusty sage green shade. It’s hanging out there right in between green and blue, almost a soft teal.
Continuing the good formulas here, this was also lovely! Once again the 2nd coat covers any last patches or streaks that were there from the 1st coat, it’s all smoothed out and nice.

Now we pump up the saturation and the overall teal hues with this next shade. This is the namesake of the collection, ‘(Un)guilty Pleasures’, and as mentioned it’s a bright teal shade. So rich and bright on the nails, I can’t wait to wear this in the warmer weather. Until then I’ll wear this on my nails to combat all of the snow and gray we have right now.
And y’all know what I’m going to say, another amazing formula here! Again another that’s practically opaque in just 1 coat – so pigmented and just glides onto the nails. I’m so impressed.

Last but certainly not least, we have ‘No To-Do’. Listen, I don’t know what that’s like, I love lists, I write to-do’s all the time just so I can cross things off, it’s just satisfying. ANYWAYS, this last shade is a warm, rich chocolate-brown, and it’s just so rich and cozy.
And of course another great formula to round it all out! An easy two coat formula that’s so smooth and lovely (how many times did I say lovely in this post, no one actually count and tell me).

***
And that’s the set! If you couldn’t tell by the amount of times I said “gorgeous” and “lovely” and “amazing” above, I loved this collection. Every single polish had an incredible formula, and all of the polishes were so smooth and pigmented. If there’s a color catching your eye in this set, you won’t be disappointed. (Of course, I’ll give you the other side of it and say these aren’t any sort of new and unique colors here, I’m sure other brands have come out with them, of course, of course, but if you don’t have any of them already in your collection these are great choices).

I’m not usually into green polishes, but it’s my boyfriend’s favorite color and lately I’ve been itching to get some new greens. Might have to pick up Caught in the Rain bc the color looks pretty and the name is super cute!

Thank you for your fantastic review and pictures! I’m a recent Essie convert and was v happy to see your latest post. I picked up the blue, brown and caught under the rain at the weekend and am currently wearing the blue – I love it!!! It’s definitely a dusty denim and a colour I didn’t think I’d ever find 🙂 Caught under the rain looks gorgeous too – I can see that one getting a lot of wear here 🙂
