If you read my 2020 goals post, you’ll know one of my biggest goals this year is going through my collection and destashing. I got too many polishes and I KNOW IT. And part of that destashing is going back to older collections I purchased and swatching them and seeing if I still want them at all. So there are definitely going to be some more “throwback” collection posts and reviews. I know it’ll be helpful to me to sift through and know the polish I own, but also to you in case you happen to run across these shades later!
The first collection in this series is this one, the Revlon Holochrome collection. These released in late 2017, and I snatched them all up when I saw them discounted at Walgreens. And then they just sat around in my collection until I glimpsed them again in my drawers and realized I never put them on my nails. It’s time they finally see the light and I see how I like them.
Now they may be harder to find, but I’ve seen them lurking at various drugstore such as Walmart and Walgreens, so you may be able to still snag any shades that catch your eye. They’re showing as being priced around $5.50 each.
I know they got some mixed reactions when they first came out – Revlon promised intense holographic and duochromes and chrome finish – I will say right away, that you’re not going to quite get that with these. Spoilers. BUT, I don’t think they can be entirely tossed away. I’ll let you see the swatches and decide.
Everyone who knows me personally, knows that my brows are honestly the part of my makeup routine that I care about the most. It’s a characteristic of me that my eyebrows are always loud and proud. So anytime I see new brow products from the drugstore, I’m intrigued and want to try it out, to see if they might be worthy of the brow routine.
So when I ran out of my beloved L’Oreal ‘Brow Stylist Definer’ (I cry) I thought this was the perfect time to pick up a new pencil. I saw Jessica Braun talking about this Revlon one, so whatever Jessica does, I do.
This is the Revlon ‘Colorstay Brow Pencil’. I picked mine up in the color ‘Soft Brown’, the darker color in the display in my local Walgreens store. It retails for $8.99. On Walgreen’s website, the only color they have listed is ‘Blonde’, so hopefully find this in stores – otherwise all the colors are up on Ulta’s website.
It’s the last day of SwatchWeek! We made it! I survived a whole week of swatching polishes at my parents house with inadequate lighting. I think that’s a Christmas miracle in itself. I honestly had a lot of fun doing this, and it allowed me to try out the polishes of lesser known brands I had sitting in my collection. I definitely have some new favorites! I hope to do this again sometime.
Now let’s get on in to the final day of SwatchWeek! Today I have 6 polishes from Revlon. These are their normal polishes from their core line. Some of these I did find discounted down to $2, so be sure to watch out in your Walgreens!
If I am not at home, one can assume I’m at Walgreens looking at nail polish.
This may have been one of those times. It’s fine.
What I want to become a regular part of my blog will be posts about recent discounted nail polishes that I either spotted or picked up (we can probably assume if it’s discounted I picked it up). I love saving on nail polish, and hate paying full price, and I know many of my readers love and hate the same thing. So I’m going to try to do regular rounds of my local stores, to see what’s discounted that week, and then post about it for you. All of these posts will have “Discount” as the first word in the title, so you can tell right away.
Enough explanation. Let’s just get on to this discount haul.
I swagged on over to my local Wallygreens. Not seeing the new Wet N Wild collection (it always takes so long for new collections to get to my Walgreens), I decided to see if there was any clearance nail polish.
