Alright, alright, alright, this collection might have already been talked to death. But you know, I walked into a Walgreens out of town, and found a full display of it finally, and had some Walgreens points saved up, so I really had to. So enjoy my 2 cents on it, because I’m putting it out there anyways. And it’s beautiful so who doesn’t want to see more photos of it.
Wet N Wild is one of my absolute favorite drugstore brands because 1: They’re so goddamn affordable. Even in the way of drugstore prices, they’re on the lower end and 2: they have been absolutely killing it with their products this year. They’ve been putting out incredible releases and just amping up the quality of their items. So anytime I see a new collection out, I need my grabby hands on it.
This collection is called the ‘Midnight Mermaid’ collection and it’s one of the vampiest things I’ve seen in the world – perfect for my dark soul. I found this at a local Walgreens, and you can still buy it on their website in separate pieces.
For a hot second, everybody and their brother was raving about this collection, and now that it’s in my hands, I understand why.
It’s made up of 4 of their Liquid Catsuits in Metallic Mattes, 4 Metallic Liquid Cream Eyeshadows, 3 liquid eyeliners, and 1 highlighter.
Up first might be the part I was most excited for. Wet N Wild’s ‘Liquid Catsuit’ liquid lipstick formula is incredible, so anytime I see new shades in it, I want them all. Especially when they’re metallic. Metallics are the newest big trend so I’m glad to have some affordable, unique options.
There are 4 different shades, and they retail for $4.99 each.
They come in the traditional Wet N Wild liquid lipstick tubes, and have the special black mermaid pattern on the tops. It’s not a wrap, it’s the actual top, so it’s not going to come off. For the price, I love all the little packaging details in this collection.
It’s the tradition ‘Liquid Catsuit’ applicator. If you haven’t use that before, it’s a doe foot with a little dip in it that curves to the lips nicely, and helps apply it smoothly. It also holds some more product, so you’re able to apply without dipping multiple times.
And I can’t stop staring at these swatches, and just drooling. This is one swipe of each color, ONE SWIPE. As you can see they’re incredibly pigmented and not patchy when applying to the lips. Absolutely stunning, and I’m in love.
‘Coral Crown’ is a nice rust-orange bronze metallic. ‘Sea Seduction’ is a deep navy blue metallic. ‘Harbor a Crush’ is a dark brick red metallic. And ‘Siren’s Jewel’ is a beautiful forest green metallic.
I also have some lip swatches below!
They apply beautifully – not patchy at all. This was one layer. I did have to dip back into the tube for my top lip, but it was still smooth and easy to apply. On first application, if you rub your lips together, it feels almost like a thicker balm formula. Then it dries down after about 10 minutes. You can see in some of these, they have more glitter than others, but it’s not gritty at all. It’s all very smooth on the lips.

After these dry down, they’re very comfortable on the lips. You can feel them on the lips, but it’s a very light feeling. It just feels like a nice little thin layer on top of your lips. They’re not completely transfer proof – they’ll leave marks on cups and anything you eat with. They’re very comfortable, and I don’t feel the life being sucked out of my lips as it wears.
(I can’t wait to wear these at work. I plan on working up to these, so I don’t completely scare my coworkers. But I also work in the art field, so it’s a little more lax than most normal places.)
You get hours of wear out of these. Even with drinking, they didn’t wear away. However if you eat something oily you are going to have to reapply, as with any liquid lipstick. It did wear away in the inside, leaving a dark ring on the outside, so you’ll look a little crazy until you reapply.
Even after hours of wear, they’re not completely transfer proof, leaving some marks on cups and other things. But they’re not wearing away – it’s only a slight transfer.
All in all I loved these, and thought the formulas were fantastic, especially for the price. They’re a beautiful way to wear these deep metallics, and present unique shades to add to your formula.

Up next is the other part I was very intrigued with. There are 4 Metallic Liquid Eyeshadows and they retail for $4.99 each. They come in long tubes with mermaid tops that match the liquid lipsticks.
I wouldn’t call them metallic, as they’re more glitters than anything. They’re a black base with different colored shimmers and sparkle in them.
Here you can really see the shift of that red shade. It looked gold in the photo above, but it’s truly a bright red glitter.
It’s a normal doe foot applicator that loads a lot of product on there, making it easy to apply to the lids.
And swatches speak for themselves. Though they are a little patchy on first application, I found that patting them on, instead of purely swiping built up the color beautifully.
‘Aquatic Prism’ is a black base with blue sparkles and shimmer. ‘Moonlight Majesty’ is black with red shimmer and sparkles. ‘Mysterious Nights’ is black with gold shimmers and ‘Lara’s Necklace’ is black with green shimmer. You can see at the end of the swatches they’re all a black base, with different colored shimmers. So it’s a vampy glitter look no matter what.
For application of these: I put down a primer, and blended a shade in my crease and outer corner. Basically, I completed my eye look, except for the lid shade. Then I added ‘Aquatic Prism’ in the center of the lid. I found the best way to apply these, to get the most color payoff, was to pat the color directly onto the lid with the applicator. These are a little hard to blend out – blend them out right away before they dry – so I found I preferred drawing on my exact shape with the applicator, and then using powder shadow to blend out any harsh or uneven lines. You can add more layers easily on top of each other without it getting too cakey.
And then these wore beautifully. They dry down, and didn’t crease on my oily lids throughout the whole day. I experienced only minimal glitter fallout throughout the whole day of wear – and that was only after hours of wear, and was very minimal and easy to brush away.
It offered the same stunning glitter impact and look at the end of wear, that it did for me at the very beginning application.
Now these are all very dark colors, so that’s something to keep in mind when adding them to your look. They’ll look darker from one angle, and then when they hit the right light, they show as beautiful bright glitter shades, like in the swatches. However, I love the formulas, and would love to see if Wet N Wild comes out with more shades like this. A very easy way to explore glitter looks.

Next up are the 3 liquid eyeliners. These retail for $3.99 each and come in 3 colors. I love the details on this packaging, with the ombré tops that match the color of the bottom, as well as the color inside.
It has the traditional brush tip like their other eyeliners. I found these ones can be a little raggedy, and not completely smooth, is that just mine? It made drawing a precise wing a little more difficult. If you have experience with brush tips, you’ll be fine. However, this might be a little more tough for beginners.
Here are the swatches. I did have to go over them a couple times and build them up. The formula was a little thicker, so it felt like there wasn’t that much coming out on the brush. But they built up nicely and felt smooth.
‘Trident’s Shimmer’ is a dark slate gray metallic. ‘Sea Dreams’ is a dark navy blue shimmer. ‘Sea Symmetry’ is a emerald green shimmer.
When I applied them to my eyes, I could feel them on the corner of my eyes. You ever experience that with liners? That you can feel where they are on your eyelids? Yeah, not the best thing. Like it feels like I had little pieces of tape on my eyelids where they dry down, which I attribute to the thicker formula.
I did have to dip into the bottle a couple times to create a full wing. It has a thicker formula, and not much comes out on the brush, so I would have to re-dip in order to make the next part of my line smooth. With the rougher brush too, a sharp wing is a little harder to make.
It can be a little patchy going on, but I found I could go back and easily layer on top of it to create a smooth color.
But once it was on, it lasted me through a whole work day and more. It did start cracking a little at the very end, and if you rub it, it’ll definitely flake away. But if you leave it alone, it wears very nicely, and is a nice metallic pop on the eyes. It’s not super metallic on its own, but over black it really pops.
So while I don’t love the brush and applicator, it does wear very well and last nicely on the eyes. Not my favorite product out of the whole collection because it wasn’t the easiest formula, but not a complete flop.

Lastly is something I knew I needed – for collection’s sake. Wet n Wild has been coming out with AMAZING highlighters lately (I’ll be posting about the new shades soon), and anytime they drop more, like the liquid lipsticks, I need every shade.
This one is another Highlighting Bar, like their gold bar last holiday, but even larger. It comes in the one shade called ‘Midnight Moon’ and retails for $6.99.
The packaging on this is absolutely gorgeous. It features the silver metallic mermaid on the outside, and is a sturdy plastic. Inside is even more gorgeous. It’s imprinted with the mermaid scales, that continue into waves/mermaid tail patterns. I just couldn’t stop taking photos of it (had to hold myself back from posting 19 million of them).
At different angles, you can see the true color shift of this product. In certain angles, it’s a yellow gold. And in others it shifts to a more cool toned gray with that golden shimmer. Also a little harder to see, but there are also pink shimmers scattered throughout.
In this swatch I made sure you could see the shift from the yellow gold to the gray as well. I will say it can be a more unique highlighter, and something that not everyone will love because of the more gray shift. When you turn your head to different angles, it can show up as more of a gray look on the cheeks, before switching to the bright yellow gold – something to realize. It’s not a super dark gray – it’s just a little darker. It’s just more unique and can look a little different if you’re not used to it completely.
On the cheeks, this is absolutely beautiful. You get that lovely gold flash in certain lights, and it does almost give you a mystical look.
The one thing I didn’t absolutely love about this highlighter is that as it wore away throughout the day, it left behind the pink sparkles on my cheeks. They weren’t super noticeable, but up close I could see them on my face, and it was a little annoying – so if that’s something you won’t like, keep that in mind. And if you don’t love the gray look to it, this might not be something for you.
But that’s only the one negative, and it didn’t wear away until after my full work day, so that was pretty incredible. It’s super smooth, and very intense and in your face, and I loved it for a unique color. Just know your own color preferences when choosing whether or not to pick this up.

Summary: All in all I actually loved this collection.
Well, the eyeliners left a little to be desired with the brush and formula, so if you want to skip something, the eyeliners didn’t wow me. But the rest of the collection really did, especially because it’s coming from the drugstore.
My favorites are absolutely the Liquid Catsuits – they’re stunning metallics with a beautiful formula that lasts all day.
The liquid eyeshadows are a great way to incorporate more glitter into your life, and experiment with different looks. And the highlighter is just a unique shade to add into my collection! Wet n Wild is killing the game lately, and I can’t wait to see what else they come out with – they previewed quite a few new products on their snapchat the other day, so stay tuned for even more!
I’ll have a post on their Halloween collection coming up soon as well! Stay tuned!
