Wet N Wild NEW Color Icon 10-Pan Eyeshadow Palettes 2021 – Swatches

I’ve mentioned before that I want to bring consistent makeup reviews back to the blog, and I’m enjoying testing out new makeup to post about here. And to add to that, I want to start adding in swatch posts as well! These will come with multi-part reviews, like this one, or for larger palettes that will require longer amounts of testing. With this post being the first, this will feature purely just swatches and images of the palettes, and then as I finish each individual palette review, I’ll link it above. I’m sure it’ll shift as I continue figuring out my style and process, but for now that’s what I’m aiming for!

I wanted to get these swatches out, so you can at least see the color stories, and how they look on my skin tone, and get a little bit of an idea of how the shadows will perform. Of course, swatches never tell the whole story, and the true test is always how the shades perform on the eyes. But I know I always still like to see swatches to see if I’m interested in the first place.

Alright, so today we’re looking at a new release from Wet N Wild.

These are the new Color Icon 10 Pan Eyeshadow Palettes. If these sound familiar, it’s because it’s a new version of a fairly recent product. They had the original Color Icon 8 pan palettes way back in the day, and those were updated with the last version of the Color Icon palettes, only released in 2017, with some later versions coming in later in 2018, so they’re not that old at all. They still have these older Color Icon eyeshadow palettes available for purchase on their website, with no discount at all. There’s only one color overlap with ‘Nude Awakening’, so I can’t tell if these will eventually replace these, and they’ll release all of the same palettes later on or what. Intrigued on why they chose to change them up again, but all I knew is I saw new Wet N Wild eyeshadows so I had to try them out and see what was up.

Instead of the more flimsy black plastic of the previous ones, we have a more sturdy white plastic packaging. I will say it feels thicker and a little more higher quality than the previous, so that $1 price increase makes sense. I had issues with the hinges breaking on the other ones, and I don’t think you’ll have that issue with these.

We have 4 of these new 10 pans. I grabbed a few from a new display in Walgreens, and ordered the other shades I was missing right off of Wet N Wild’s website. They retail for $5.99 each and feature 10 shades.

Alright enough rambling, let’s look at these swatches already!

Happy Halloween and Happy spooky week, y’all! There’s still plenty of time to get spooky, and plenty of time to talk about some Halloween products! And still some more spooky posts to come!

I honestly love Halloween releases so much. I wish more companies did them really. I know they can be a little more out there, and less everyday than the normal person looks for, but I love how unique they get and how they allow me to experiment with new and different colors and finishes! This is my petition to have more companies come out with Halloween collections. MORE HALLOWEEN, I SAY.

And one of the companies that always comes out with lots of Halloween themed products is Wet N Wild. I was so excited when I saw their new Fantasy Makers released, and knew I had to get my hands on some of them.

As I’ve mentioned before, living in Chicago I only miss stores when they get limited edition releases. For example, Walmart. There are no large Walmarts around me in the city that get the bigger limited edition collections, so every time I go back to my parents house in Michigan, they’re very used to me disappearing to go scope out the local Walmarts for makeup and nail polish I normally wouldn’t be able to find. And I was so dang excited when I found the big ol’ display for the new Wet N Wild Halloween products!

This is in Walmarts and I’ve seen it in Walgreens as well. Otherwise, most of the individual products are still available on their website. I grabbed the products I was interested in from the display – there are a lot of other ones that I didn’t get, including lots of shades of lip products, liquid eyeshadows and cream eyeshadows – but I held myself back from ordering online. I’m trying to be a LITTLE better, okay

But I grabbed the 4 new eyeshadow palettes, 2 new highlighters, the Zombie blush and 2 lip products! Let’s talk about em!

Hey look! A Wet N Wild post up before they’ve announced another collection! You know, it’s about continuous improvement, and I knew I would get it someday. It’s obviously only up from here.

Kidding aside, I’m still figuring out how to tackle these monster posts in a more timely way. I need to work on just writing my thoughts on each product as I use them, so I’m not just overwhelmed by how much information I have to type and procrastinate (aka my entire college career).

There’s a lot to get into, so enough self-reflection, let’s just talk about it already. Today we are talking about the Wet N Wild Pac-Man collection. This is a full collection obviously themed after the most popular arcade collection. It features 2 brushes, 1 eyeshadow palette, 1 blush palette, a Blushlighter, a Bronzer, 4 Ghost Glosses, and a lip scrub and lip balm.

Wet N Wild Pac-Man Perfect Game Nail Polish Set

PURCHASED

Whew boy, it’s the start of a busy couple of months for me! I have two family weddings coming up, one in September and one in October – including being a bridesmaid for the September one, so it’s about to be a lot of traveling and craziness! I’ll be testing how well I can get posts together and ready to put up before I’m gone for a weekend, which is something I want to be better at anyways. I just talked about how I was more consistent in posting in July, so its time to REALLY TEST THAT.

It’s crazy that these are coming up so fast, and I can’t believe it’s already August! The time is just flying by. But we still have plenty of summer left here, and the heat isn’t letting up. Do you have any plans for the rest of the summer?

But as always, the polish doesn’t let up for any schedule! Today’s post is talking about this little nail polish set that came out in the Wet N Wild Pac-Man collection (I’ll have a separate post about the makeup items up in the next week or two). When this collection was previewed, I was very interested in the eyeshadow palette, of course, but seeing a nail polish set always makes me excited, and it was something I knew I had to snatch up. They’ve only done this one other time, with the Flights of Fancy collection last summer.

I’ll always miss the full limited edition nail polish collections that Wet N Wild used to come out with (especially as they ended right as I was getting into polish). And I’ll always have a hope that they’ll do them again someday. For now, I’ll deal, and have these little sets fill the void in my heart.

Wet N Wild Crystal Cavern FULL COLLECTION

I always joke that I get reviews up of Wet N Wild collections right when they’re about to drop a new one (I can’t WAIT for the new Pacman collection), and you know, I wish I could say this was an exception. As you can see, these are beasts of posts, so I’m still figuring out the best way to tackle them in a more efficient way. But as always, BETTER LATE THAN NEVER. I knew I wouldn’t let this go by without a full review. Enough intro, it’s a lot to talk about so let’s get into it!

A new fun thing: As you can see I have links at the top to jump to different parts of the review! If you’re interested in only certain parts, click those to scroll on down!

We’re talking about the Crystal Cavern collection! This is a light, airy and shimmery collection based on crystals. This collection includes 4 new eyeshadow trios, 4 new lipglosses, 2 new highlighters, 4 new perfumes and a setting spray.

As with all of their other collections, they are selling the whole thing in a box for a discounted price. The full collection box is $49.99 and features all of the products (separately they retail all together for $74). They also have sets for each of the crystals, that include the specific eyeshadow trio, lipgloss and perfume, as well as the two highlighters and the setting spray for $19.99. You can also buy a set of the 4 perfumes for $23.

I was, of course, interested in trying all of the products, so I ended up just buying the whole collection box.

If you buy the whole collection, it comes in this big ol’ chunky crystal shaped box.

CC-CaseOutside

Honestly it’s a very cool presentation and I got to pretend I was a real booty guru receiving PR from Wet N Wild for a hot second (a true dream).

It has all of the pieces nicely secured, as well as information about the whole collection at the top. But unless you’re planning on keeping the box forever to display, it can be a lil chunky and overwhelming (especially when you’re living in a studio apartment and have it sitting by your recycling for 2 months oops). Of course, I love the attention to detail and the effort to present it.

CC-CaseInside

ALRIGHT, HERE WE GO. Like I’ve said, it’s about to be a long one, as all of these posts are – there’s a lot of pieces to talk about and I love to give you thorough reviews. Like I said before, there are links above you can click to skip to specific parts of the review, or you can buckle on up and scroll through it all.

Wet N Wild ‘Rebel Rose’ Collection

I seem to be in this pattern of finishing and putting up a review of a limited edition Wet N Wild collection right as they’re releasing a new one. I’M WORKING ON THAT. (If you haven’t seen, they have a collection called Crystal Cavern coming out soon. I’m so excited). Honestly, I’m gonna blame moving (and procrastinating, I moved a month ago) for this getting pushed to the back of the drawer. So here it is, and I’m going to be more timely with reviews coming up.

I’ve said it before, these posts are long and take a lot of work so maybe I get intimidated. But I’m always so satisfied and happy when they’re up and I just hope this can help out someone else looking to buy the collection! I’ve gotten a new motivation and passion for reviewing, so I can’t wait to just post even more reviews (and in a more timely basis) – and hopefully be on a more set schedule by the end of this summer.

So thank you for always being patient with me. I just want to be able to fully use the products and give the most thorough review I can, and I can only hope it helps you a little bit in your buying process. I’m buying this makeup anyways, I might as well talk about it for someone else.

Let’s talk about it already, shall we?

Wet N Wild ‘Fire Dragon vs. Ice Dragon’ Collection

It’s finally DONE. This is one of those long posts that I looked at for so long, and just avoided since I knew it would take quite a while to finish up. I talk about this in my 2019 goals, I’M WORKING ON IT.

Heck, I’m sorry this all took so long. I did want to really take time and make sure I tested absolutely everything in this collection, along with wear tests. Oh I did that. And then I procrastinated more. This is my bad. But it’s here now, and this collection is still available to buy! So better late than never!

That’s right, you’re correct, I got another Wet N Wild collection box. I’m not ashamed and I WON’T BE STOPPED. I mean, you guys like it for the reviews right? I know this took a million years to finally review, but it’s a lot of products to review, and I wanted to fully test them all out, so it got a little pushed back behind others.

BUT HERE IT IS. It’s all here, it’s all been reviewed and tested thoroughly, and it’s all here for me to tell you about it. This post will be a NOVEL but you can skip about to the parts you really want to know, and I’ll stop talking and just get into it.

This collection is the ‘Fire Dragon vs. Ice Dragon’ collection (very Game of Thrones chic), and it’s still available both on Wet N Wild’s site, as well as Ulta’s. It retails for $39.99.

BoxOutside

Just like the one before this, the collection comes with a little pin as well. What will I do with this? Idk, but it’s cute.

Let’s get into this monster of a collection and review post. The products are in bold, so you can kind of pick and scroll to which products you’re most interested in. Or enjoy just seeing what I think about em all.

Wet N Wild ‘Written in the Stars’ Zodiac Collection

I’m going to keep apologizing every time I take more than a week to post because that’s who I am as a person. And because like always I have a mountain of makeup to get through and review – we’re working on it here. Slow and steady (or hopefully more quickly and steady, right?) Who needs to go outside.

But let’s talk Wet N Wild now, shall we?

I’m keeping up my schedule of reviewing one Wet N Wild collection just in time to start reviewing another – they’ve been pumping out the collections this year, and lord, they’re lucky they’re so affordable, as I’m incredibly obsessed and need them all – but of course I’ll still review them honestly.

I picked up all the pieces of this collection on Wet N Wild’s website! You can also find it at Walmart stores as well.

It’s called ‘Written in the Stars’ and it’s based all around the zodiac signs. There’s lots of shimmer and sparkle, and jewel tones here.

Firstly, if you spent a certain amount of money, you got this little makeup bag with your sign as a freebie! I love the little touch, and it’s actually a really nice bag! Any other fellow sags out there?

MakeupBag

Now let’s get right into the rest because lord we got a lot to talk about and swatch! It’s a long post, so you can see a super summary review at the very end, or a more detailed review on each piece after the photos of it.

Wet N Wild ‘Flights of Fancy’ Nail Polish Collection

With Wet N Wild’s recent summer collection, the ‘Flights of Fancy’, they also put out a fun little nail collection! It’s been so long since they’ve put out any limited edition shades of their polish (their Megalast formula is SO good) and I’ve really missed them. The limited edition shades were always so good, and it was before I was really into blogging, so I missed out on all the pretties.

So when I saw they had this, I knew I had to pick it up, because of the crazy collector in me. It quickly sold out on the website, but I stumbled upon it at my local grocery store not too long after, and basically danced in the aisles. I know it might be a little hard to find, but it’s out there somewhere! And I still just wanted to show them in case someone saw them!

These are definitely smaller bottles. They’re only 0.24 fl oz, whereas in comparison a normal bottle of OPI or most other polishes is 0.5fl oz. So they’re about half the size of a normal bottle of polish. These were $2 each as well, so still very affordable.

Since they’re part of the ‘Flights of Fancy’ collection, they have the same detailing on the caps that the glosses had as well. Definitely fun to have out to display.

Let’s get into the formulas and swatches!
