I’ve been falling a little behind on my Sinful Colors posts – I still have yet to figure out which Walgreens store down here will be my hookup – if you live in the Chicago area (did I mention I live in Chicago now?), lemme know if you have a go-to Walgreens that actually gets in the new Sinful Colors collections.
But before I moved, I did find two of the shades from the Sinful Colors Halloween 2017 collection. This year’s collection is called ‘Night of the Living Red’. It has 2 glow in the dark shades as well as the normal glow in the dark top coat – I didn’t like the glow in the dark shades from last year so I didn’t bother picking them up. It also has 4 repromotes, as well as 4 new shades. I found 2 of the new shades for today. All of the Walgreens stores I went to only had the smaller displays so I never found the other two shades. But they’re called ‘If You’ve Got it Haunt It’ and ‘Pumpkin Spice’.
I at least have the two shimmery red shades that I wanted to show you today as part of my Halloween palooza on the blog this weekend! So let’s jump right into it.
‘Undead Red’ is the first shade. It’s a red base with shimmers and black shards. It had a smooth easy first coat, with a good covering of the black shards. If you had smaller nails than mine, it can be a little more difficult to get any black shards on them, as it helped to lay the brush on the nail to put down the shards. On the 2nd coat, the color deepens and the shimmer stands out even more, and it was completely opaque.
This is labeled as a ‘Vampy Matte’ finish. But as you can see, girl ain’t matte. It’s honestly more of a satin finish, but there’s still a good amount of shine to it. So I don’t know what they meant with that label. But it’s still pretty for Halloween anyways.
The other shade I picked up is called ‘Bite Me’ and its labeled with a ‘Limited Time’ sticker. Not gonna lie, when I picked these up separately, I was convinced they were basically the same shade. BUT THEY’RE DIFFERENT, MOM.
This one is more of a warm toned red base with different size matte black pieces all throughout, and more shimmers. This was a sheer first coat, but you get a really good amount of black glitters all throughout. Depending on the thickness of coats, you’ll need 2-3 to completely cover your nail line. This one honestly dried more matte than the ‘Vampy Matte’. Because of the pieces it can look a lil chunky, but that only adds to the Halloween fun in my opinion.
So there are the shades from your Sinful Colors Halloween collection this year – or at least, the shimmery reds. Nothing to complain about on the formulas for these – besides the one definitely not being matte, but that’s a small thing.
Have you guys found this collection?
Sinful Colors has dropped a couple new collections on their website, so I’ll be hunting around to see if I can find them and review them as well!
As for this weekend, I’ll be putting up other Halloween posts – including the China Glaze Halloween collection, and the Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers collection, as well as a couple other nail reviews! I’m looking forward to finally getting back into the swing of blogging, and putting up lots of new reviews for you! Stay tuned!
