PR SAMPLE
Whenever a new brand reaches out to me offering to send polishes, I’m always so excited to try out something that I might have missed or wouldn’t have been able to try on my own (Contrary to what you might think, I don’t have the budget to try EVERY brand). And I always enjoy showing you all different brands and polishes as well. So when Whats Up Nails reached out to me about trying their new release, I was so intrigued!
Whats Up Nails is an online stores that distributes a variety of other brands of polishes. They’re also super well known for their nail art supplies, especially their stamping plates. But recently they started releasing their own line of polishes as well! This is the 2nd release they’ve had, with the Desert Monsoon collection coming out earlier this summer. I hadn’t bought from them yet, so I was definitely here to try it out!
This new release is called the Shorter Days collection and features 6 shades in a variety of finishes and colors! The color palette looks so nice next to each other as well! You can find a bundle of the shades on their website, as well as the individual colors.

Let’s get right into the swatches shall we! (And I always give my spiel, that even though these were gifted to me, that never stops me from honestly reviewing the polishes and formulas! I never have obligations for positive reviews, and I review them all the same. You would be able to see bad formulas right in the live swatches as well! Alright now to the polishes!)

Up first we have ‘Tasting Trip’. A fitting name, as it’s a deep almost wine colored burgundy cream shade. This had a great formula, and was almost opaque in just 1 coat. I did 2 to even out any patches and it’s just gorgeous for fall! Super smooth and super easy to paint on!

‘Chrome Colored Glasses’ is a super sparkly rose gold foil shade. It builds up pretty well in 2 coats, though depending on your preferences and application, you might want a 3rd for any last patches. But look at that SPARKLE. This could be gorgeous during the holidays as well!

Now we reach the absolute SHOWSTOPPER of the bunch, right in the middle of the post. This is ‘Horsehead Nebula’ and it’s an incredibly shifty shimmery multichrome. This is a bright purple that shifts to a coppery gold to a bright teal green shade (you can really see it in the edges of the bottle). This is also a magnetic shade, so you can create patterns in it – but since I didn’t have one on me, I’m showing how it’ll swatch right out of the bottle which is just as beautiful.
And this had a beautiful formula as well, being almost opaque in just 1 coat. I did 2 for the photo as that’s my swatching routing, and just prepare to scroll through all of the photos I had to take of it.

SHIFTY GOODNESS. It’s somehow even more shifty and mystifying in person as well.

From shifty multichrome to lovely cream (listen creams can be just as exciting for me). This is ‘To Bee or Not to Be’ is a gorgeous orange-toned yellow cream shade (and I love the name). As yellows can tend to be sometimes, this had a more streaky formula. I did end up using 3 coats to fully cover any last patches from the ridges in my nails – if you have smoother nails you might be good with just 2.

Up next we have ‘Lost Frost’. This is a light blue base with stunning icy blue shimmer all throughout. Again, a touch more sheer on the nails, but it builds up well in 2 coats. Again depending on your application – I still had some visible nail line after 2 coats, you might want a 3rd coat to fully cover.

And last up, we have ‘Squid Escape’ (listen I think the name is fun okay). This is a deep navy blue jelly base with tons of iridescent blue flakes all throughout. Since it’s a jelly base, the 1st coat is pretty uneven, but a 2nd really built it up, and deepened up the shade to match the bottle and make it fully opaque. A lovely shade, and a perfect way to round the whole release out!

And that’s the collection! It was an interesting release of shades and finishes, and there’s a little something for everyone! There were some gorgeous shades here and lovely formulas so I enjoyed trying them out! ‘To Bee or Not to Be’ could be the one pass for the 3 coats, as I have other shades in the same color with better formulas, but it’s not bad at all to work with.
I’m glad I was able to try these shades out and I’m excited to see what they release in the future! Are you at all intrigued by any of these shades?
