Essie ‘Wrapped in Luxury’ Winter 2022 Collection – Swatches & Review

We’re getting so close to the holidays and winter breaks and time with family! But it’s just not complete without the mainstream winter releases to check out. So far we’ve looked at the OPI winter release so now we continue on with Essie. Essie of course released their traditional 6 bottle set, and it features rich cream shades and 2 gorgeous shimmers! It’s a lovely little holiday palette, with some classics of reds, greens and golds, but with a tiny little twist.

I purchased these from the Beyond Polish website! I’ve been loving them for their discounted bundles of Essie polishes – especially with how many sets Essie releases throughout the year.

Now I’ve waited too long to post these already, so there’s no long winded intro like usual. Let’s just dive into the swatches already!

This first shade has been a crowd favorite, and as always, I’m like “just look at the photos and you’ll understand”. This is ‘Head to Mistletoe’, a minty green metallic with scattered golden shimmers all throughout. I do love how those golden shimmers show up, just giving the shade a little glow.

And this had a lovely 2 coat formula. The first coat had some streaks and patches, but the 2nd easily covered them and made it fully opaque. Since it’s a more metallic shimmer there are some subtle brushstrokes. They’re not going to be as noticeable in day to day life as they are here in my zoomed in photos, but just something to keep in mind.

Now we dive into the first of our creams. This is ‘Sleigh It’ and it’s a gorgeous taupe-y, muted brown shade. A nice little neutral if you’re just not feeling that shimmery green.

For formula, this was absolutely STUNNING. Basically opaque in just 1 coat, it was so smooth and pigmented and basically painted itself onto the nail. A beautiful cream that I’m coming to expect from Essie.

Next up we have ‘Wrapped in Luxury’, the namesake of the collection, and I truly do feel wrapped in luxury while wearing this. This is a deeper cool-toned almost cherry red shade. It has some almost purple tones to it, giving it that full deep wine red that’s perfect for this time of year.

This one felt a touch more squishy than the other creams in the collection, like a crelly. But it’s still a rich and pigmented formula and was opaque in just 2 coats. That drop of jelly into the formula just gives it such a lovely shine and squishy look on the nails. My one note about this one is to be careful when applying – I did have some red cuticles when cleaning up, which you can see a touch in the photo. It’s a pigmented one so it can stain your skin just a touch.

Now for our 2nd and final shimmer of the bunch. This is ‘Not So Silent Night’, and it’s a gorgeous, almost coppery-toned golden shimmer. Again, it just feels like the holidays to me.

And another lovely formula here! It was practically opaque in 1 coat, though I did 2 as normal here. Again with a shimmery formula I had just the tiniest amount of brushstrokes, but you can see most level out and disappear. Overall so nice!

Now for our final two creams. First up, another crowd favorite, and for good reason, just look at it! This is ‘Carols & Caviar’ and it’s a deep almost muted, gray-toned navy blue shade. Hard to describe but I love it a lot, and I cannot get enough of deeper colors like this for the colder weather.

And again, another stunning cream formula here! Opaque in just 1 coat (I always do 2 coats, but if you needed to get out the door quick it’s a great option). So pigmented and so smooth and fantastic!

And last but certainly not least, we finish out with ‘Midnight Delight’. It’s a warm butterscotch cream shade, a true yellow-toned brown. It just makes me feel cozy for some reason. And it has the same smooth and pigmented formula of the others! Lovely and pigmented and smooth and opaque in just 2 coats. Super lovely and no complaints!

And that’s the set! I loved this color palette overall, it just felt cozy and perfect for the holidays, like sitting in front of a warm fire at a nice little cabin. Maybe that’s just me, but it just felt holiday. And the formulas were all absolutely stunning here! No complaints at all, they were all opaque in just 1-2 coats and were so smooth and pigmented. You won’t be disappointed with any of these if you choose to pick them up.
