It’s still summer for a couple more days officially, so that means this review is right on time, right? I feel like I say that every year.
I know I keep saying I’m going to be more consistent with posting – but then I get freelance projects that take over. Blogging is just my hobby, and I have a full time job + freelancing to finance me, so that always takes priority.
But you know, being away from blogging always renews my love for it. It always makes me want to come back and get really back into it, so I do really love it. And it really makes me want to kick into gear and just put out a ton of reviews of all the products sitting on my desk. There’s a lot to talk about y’all.
For now, let’s focus on this last hurrah of summer shall we? This week is that last week of warm temperatures you always get right before it really goes into fall. “Second Summer”, they call it. So perfect time to review some bright colors, right??
This is the China Glaze ‘Shades of Paradise’ collection for Summer 2018. As always it’s a 12 bottle collection, so there’s a lot to talk about – let’s get right into it.
You ever accidentally take a 2 week break? Welp, here I am. It got a little busy in here and then I had friends in from London! Showing them around the big city for 5 days was a great time, and we were so active each day that there was definitely not any time for blogging or painting nails. My polish is so chipped, and I’m catching up on chores, but it was such a good time.
So I’m back! It’s time to finish up these gosh dang summer collections already! Today was a little chillier and it gave me a little taste of fall, and lemme tell ya, I’m excited for it.
BUT ANOTHER HEAT WAVE IS A-COMIN THIS WEEKEND, SO SUMMER AIN’T OVER, AND NEITHER IS TALKING ABOUT SUMMER COLLECTIONS.
Today we’re talking about another expansion to the Sally Hansen x Crayola collaboration. This time they added 6 new shades in a summer collection called ‘School’s Out’. (If you’re like me and graduated college a year ago, school is always out. AYYY. I’m sorry).
Just like the summer collection, these have the wider, flat cut brushes. These are nice to paint the nail in one easy stroke, but make it a little difficult to round out the cuticle nicely, so it can get a little messy. Small complaint.
But let’s get right into these individual swatches now! I’ll be doing them in numerical order.
We’re continuing on with the summer collections! We’re basically halfway through the summer now! How’s it been for you? I’ve honestly had a great summer so far, and am looking forward to some cooler temperatures and sunny days.
I’ve got a typical 6 bottle collection from Essie to talk about today! It’s loosely based on the festival theme we’ve been seeing pop up throughout all the makeup and nail collections. There are 4 creams and 2 shimmers. Let’s get right into it!
We’re continuing on with all the reviews – lord, they’re already announcing fall and Halloween collections. AH. But for me it’s still summer, and we’re working our way through summer collections. So of course, it’s time for the OPI Summer collection.
GREASE IS THE WORD, IS THE WORD. Okay I’m done. But come on, it’s a collection based on Grease! An icon! A classic! So of course, with its 40th anniversary this year, OPI based their whole summer collection on it. With Grease themed names, and some fun textures as well, we got a lot of fun to talk about.
So of course, as always OPI does a whole 12 piece collection. And then they added 3 more ‘Leather Like’ finish polishes. So that was 15 shades to swatch and talk about. Lord, OPI you kill me. But I love you too much.
Let’s get into this shall we since there’s gosh dang 15 polishes to talk about here. Yeesh, I tell ya, I’ll try to be short, but you know how I am. I can’t be blamed for having to talk about 15 polishes in one post.
It’s the first of summer posts! Before summer officially starts! I don’t know about you guys, but we had our one official week of summer here in Chicago. Memorial Day weekend, it was in the 90s and beautiful all week, and now it’s gone away, back down to 60s and 70s. Selfish of me to want more, I know.
But enough about the hot weather already come and gone, let’s talk about some bright polishes!
Starting off the season again with Orly, which is becoming one of my favorite brands really. Let’s get into it.
