China Glaze ‘The Glam Finale’ Winter 2017 Collection

Another winter collection! I swear we’re almost done, but like I said, I’m still going to put these up and review them. Otherwise they would just sit in my collection and not get the love they deserve.

It’s still chilly enough duh, I can do what I want.

So let’s get onto this China Glaze collection. It’s called the ‘Glam Finale’ and it’s a typical 12 bottle collection. It’s full of bling and sparkle and perfect for breaking up those winter grays. πŸ™‚ so let’s get into it.

Sinful Colors ‘Color Crave’ Valentine’s Day Collection

Just in time, it’s Valentine’s Day, y’all. I guess I’ve never really understood the appeal of Valentine’s Day – I’ve spent the last 3 with my best friend, Sam, even when I was in a serious relationship. And I don’t plan on breaking that tradition, already planning a night with her and my other girlfriends, filled with lots of wine and chocolate. Treat yourself on this day, and every other Wednesday.

But I will always love Valentine’s Day collections. Who doesn’t love pinks and reds? I’m always a sucker.

I was lucky to find the display of the Sinful Colors collection for 2018! I know it’s been a while since I’ve had Sinful Colors on here! It’s getting harder for me to find them which is so tragic, since they were such a part of my blog from the beginning. At least I have these! And I’m going to keep scouring Walgreens for the new shades.

For this collection, they have only 3 new shades – the rest are all repromotes. I have all 3 new shades, as well as swatches of some of the repromotes and comments about the others! So let’s get right into it, love bugs.

#TopicTuesday: Sentimental Polishes

Hello everyone, it’s my very first Topic Tuesday! Topic Tuesday was started on Instagram by Jodi of @jodispolish. It’s open to all who want to join and you can see everyone who participates by using the hashtag “#topictues” at the end of your post!

This is my first one, and when they were deciding topics for February, I actually suggested this one and it got enough votes to be included for this week! πŸ™‚ So of course, I had to participate. I love always seeing everyone’s answers and learning more about the faces behind the nails. I’ll definitely have to do more of these!

So this week is ‘Sentimental Polishes’, so polishes that have a special meaning to you!

OPI ‘Love OPI, XOXO’ Winter 2017 Collection

YO GIRL HAS ANOTHER WINTER REVIEW FOR YA.

That’s right, I’m still making my way through these holiday collections, and we’re halfway through. I have another 12 bottle collection from China Glaze, and then Orly, and then we’ll finally be finished and begging for the spring and summer sun.

Since this is a 12 bottle collection, standard from OPI, it’s a long post, so I’ll stop rambling and just get on into it.

This winter collection is called ‘Love OPI, XOXO’, and as you might be able to tell, it’s a very glam, sparkly, girly collection. PERFECT FOR FEBRUARY, AM I RIGHT. Hey, I’m an advocate of wearing whatever color you want, no matter the season. So be blingy in February, when everything is dull and gray. So let’s get into the swatches already.

Soap & Glory Small Haul

Hello friends, I have a small little haul for you! I’m trying to make sure I’m posting everything that I’m buying so you can see what I’m trying out and what reviews will be coming your way. And you can say what reviews you want to see sooner than others!

So in my neck of the woods (I live in Chicago now, but grew up in Michigan), winters can be pretty brutal. I’m actually working from home today because of a grand ol’ snowstorm. It’s been dumping on us the past week, I think, to make up for the snow we haven’t had up until then.

But this means it’s been very cold, and specially with the wind in the windy city, my skin gets dry and flaky. So I was looking for some refuge to save me from becoming a crocodile.

I’ve heard good things about Soap & Glory, especially their body products, and wanted to try a couple to really help moisturize. So I went on down to Ulta (I had to pick up my birthday gift anyways) and found some. It was buy 2, get 1 free on the brand so I picked up 3 products.

SG-Haul

So let’s get into the products!

First off, I have to say I really love the packaging and whole style of the brand. They have amazing names that are plays on words, and I love their pink branding. As a design nerd, I love the whole aesthetic. They pull it off really well, and all of the products are super fun.

First up, is the ‘Peaches & Clean Deep Cleansing Milk’. I shower at night, and take off my makeup there, so I was looking for a cleansing melt that would help take my makeup off better in the shower. This retails for $12.

(All of these prices are Ulta prices, which have been known to be a little bit higher. You can find Soap & Glory at Walgreens and Target as well. Like DAMN looking at Target’s website now, you can pick this up for $8.80, normally $11. Ulta, I love you for the points and range of brands, but come on, that’s ridic.)

ANYWAYS. Next up was the main product I wanted to pick up. I’ve heard so many great things about their body scrubs, and my legs were so dry and flaky they needed help. So I picked up the ‘Flake Away Body Polish’. It retails for $15. (Or $11.20 at Target). It’s a more creamy scrub, with lots of exfoliating particles.

Lastly, I got the ‘Heel Genius’ Foot Cream. I’m always looking for a good cream to make my feeties smooth and touchable. This is a green-toned thick cream. This retails for $10 ($7.20 on Target).

I’ve been trying out these products for a little while, and can’t wait to put a full review for you guys! With the way the weather is going, it seems I’ll be able to use them for a while longer, so you know, that’s great.

Look out for the posts coming soon.

Essie Winter 2017 Collection

Hey-o it’s the start of winter collection reviews! I know right, just in time for spring!

Nah, it’s still winter here in Chicago. We got a couple more months before it feels like spring so I’m set. I’ll get these reviews out, and we can finally be ahead of the seasons, as any good blogger should be. I, of course, will be sprinkling in makeup reviews as I go, because that gives me an excuse to also keep buying more makeup.

This blog is my excuse to buys so much nail polish and makeup. You guys are my enablers, DON’T LET THE ADDICTION DOWN.

But anyways, this review. This is the Essie Winter 2017 collection, and it’s of course a 6 bottle collection. I like putting these shorter reviews in the middle of the big ass 12 bottle collections. Breaks it up. Makes it easier. Let’s talk about nail polish.

So let’s get right into swatches.

NEW Wet N Wild ColorIcon 10-Pan Eyeshadow Palettes

NEW THINGS! NEW MAKEUP!

Look, I have a review of these! I made a good ol’ order on Wet N Wild’s website (here) when I heard they dropped a bunch of new products, because you know, I had to get my grabby hands on them.

The biggest news was that they redid and released all of their eyeshadow palettes, with a new configuration and new formulas. I have the 10-palettes in this review, that are slowly phasing out their big 8 pan palettes.

I have all 4 of them and they cost $4.99 each – just like your old 8 pans.

Let’s get into it, because it’s going to be long, with lots of pictures.

China Glaze ‘Street Regal’ Fall 2017 Collection

I’m in that weird phase with this collection, where it’s obviously not fall anymore, and it hasn’t been long enough to do a TBT post with this. So I’m just late and that’s fine.

I’m slowly working through the mound of nail polish that has to be swatched and reviewed in my drawers. I never meant to wait this long on a fall collection, but you know life happens. But I wanted to put it up anyways, because you know, it’s my blog and I can do what I want, and also I wasn’t going to let these beautiful colors sit around in my drawers unloved.

Now that I have this one up, I’m in a reasonable place with just having holiday collections to swatch through. It’s still winter, so I’m on my way. 2018 IS MY YEAR, I TELL YOU.

Anyways, let’s get this last fall collection done, shall we? This is called the ‘Street Regal’ collection, and features 12 shades, like any standard China Glaze collection. It’s full of elegant nudes, and lots of dark vampy shades, so you can feel like deadly royalty. I picked mine up from TransDesign.

Sinful Colors ‘Decked Out’ Holiday 2017 Collection

Hello there! I’m working my way through all of the holiday collections as fast as I can! I had started this one – and then got busy with the holidays, so I finished it up after I got back – so the photos and hand poses might vary a little bit. But you still get to see the polishes and colors. I’M SORRY I’M NOT PERFECT. I was struggling for a hot second to find a hand position I liked, and my lighting was being weird. But I solved it near the end of this post, so it’s going to be better after this.

But anyways, I’ve been swatching up a storm lately and have so many new reviews coming. I’m just really inspired to really get out these reviews and go for it. So enough yammering about how I’m writing all these reviews, and let’s just get into a review, am I right?

Happy New Years and 2018 Plans for Gingerly Polished

Hello, and happy New Years! It’s crazy to believe it’s already 2018 – and that the time has gone by so fast.

A new year means lots of brand new and exciting opportunities, and a time for resolutions, and that includes for this blog. A little clichΓ© maybe, but I have some big goals for Gingerly Polished, and some many new things ahead.

I know I’ve been behind this year, especially in this last couple of months. Between graduating college, getting a new job and moving, it’s been trying to figure out a new schedule, and working up the motivation to blog after a long day at work.

I still have holiday collections, and even a fall collection to review. I know, very late, but I still want to do them, just even as my own personal feeling of finishing them, better late than never! So I have some “resolutions” for my blog, and my beauty life.

  1. I know I’ve said it many a time before, but I plan on getting my shit a little more together. Posts will definitely be much more timely, and in season. And I plan on posting so much more. I have so many new nail and makeup products that I just want to talk to you about, and I started this blog for my love of nail polish and affordable makeup, and it’s still going to be that.
  2. I also plan on really taking care of my nails and my skin this year. My nails have especially suffered these past few months, as well as my cuticles in the super dry, super cold winter air. So it’s time to really take care of these babies. After all, they’re the stars of my blog. It’s time to treat them better.
  3. It’s time to really dig into my untrieds. There’s far too many lovely polishes stashed away inside my drawers that just need some love. Even if I don’t wear them as full manicures, I can swatch them on my nails to see formulas and colors.
  4. Time to get organized! Time to update my spreadsheets and really keep track of all of the polishes I have, as well as tackle the project of getting them all on swatch sticks. This will help so much with future posts and making comparisons way more accessible and easy to do. I’ll also be doing my best to declutter any polishes and makeup that I don’t truly love. After all, I have too much of a stash already to just keep things that are okay. Gotta stay ahead of the organization. (Not to mention my poor ignored Pinterest page).
  5. Lastly, I really just want to be more bold and daring with my makeup. It’s time to really feel creative and inspired, and get crazy with my looks. I have a brand new obsession with eyeshadow palettes, and let’s just see what they can really do. I’m inspired to really go for colors and wear bold lipstick more and more (luckily with my work I can do this). It’s time to really use all of my collection.

I just want 2018 to be the best year yet for Gingerly Polished, and for all of us lovers of all things nail polish and affordable makeup.

Can’t wait to go along this year with you.

So to start the year off, here’s my manicure for New Years. I don’t often do any sort of nail art or combo, but I definitely loved this, and want to continue even more.

This is a black base with China Glaze’s ‘Fairy Dust’ on the ends, as well as ‘Diamond in the Rough’, also by China Glaze.

NYE-2017

So happy 2018 everyone, and stay tuned for an even more inspired and in love with all things beauty me.

To a new year of Gingerly Polished.

Cheers.
