Pure Ice ‘Fangtastic Color’ Halloween 2017 Collection

‘TIS THE SEASON OF SHIMMERY ORANGES AND I’M HERE FOR IT.

We’re full on in the fall and Halloween seasons, and I’ve been loving it. It’s fitting that everyone has been putting out lovely oranges in their collections, and I say keep ’em comin’. And Pure Ice did not disappoint.

Pure Ice is a brand exclusive to Walmart, and honestly I haven’t been really found a terrible formula in their polishes. It can be expected, since these polishes are only TWO DOLLARS, but they don’t feel like it. So when I saw advertising for their Halloween polishes I had to hunt them down.

It’s a 5 piece limited edition collection, and each bottle cap has an orange “Limited Edition” sticker on it. There are 4 polishes that stand on their own, and then one topper.

They also had a glow in the dark polish on the display, but I’m honestly not a fan of glow in the dark polishes, so I skipped on it.

So let’s get right into the swatches (and a couple comparisons)!

NOTD & a Little Update

Hey friends and readers – I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted, let alone since I’ve been posting regularly.

My life has been going through some switches – I recently got a job at Starbucks, so that schedule was all over the place and I was trying to adjust and figure out time to paint my nails. It was harder considering I couldn’t wear nail polish while working so I was really losing any motivation to paint on polish just to take it off again.

Review: Essie Summer 2017 + Comparisons

You know 4 days before the official start of fall is the best time to finish up reviewing summer collections, right? As always, BETTER LATE THAN NEVER.

I’m finally getting some sort of set schedule down with work, and an actual income, so collection reviews are popping back up on my blog! It was almost a little break, but I’m trying my best to get back into it!

This is my first post with my shorter little nails. Working as a barista, I broke basically all of my longer nails within the first week of work – sigh, the barista life. They’re growing back slowly. Also, please do not mind my ragged, dry cuticles. The constant hand washing is just wreaking havoc on my fingers and skin, and they’re just a hot mess. FOCUS ON THE NAIL POLISH INSTEAD.

So here we go, the last summer collection I’m reviewing. It’s the Essie Summer 2017 6-piece collection! It’s based off of Paris, and is something I was just waiting to get my hands on.

It has 3 creams, 2 shimmers, and 1 metallic foil. I have comparisons at the bottom as well, so let’s get right into it!

Review: China Glaze ‘Summer Reign’ Summer 2017 Collection

Good lord, how is it almost September already? Well, I always say September is the perfect time to review summer collections, right? heh

I finally am getting around to reviewing summer collections (thank you new job and spending money once again), so look out for the Essie and Orly summer collections coming soon!

But today I have the China Glaze collection from summer 2017. As always, this is a 12 bottle collection, and I purchased mine off transdesign.com.

Let’s just get right into the swatches because there’s a lot of them!

Hauling! Maybelline, L’Oreal, Essence + More!

I’ve recently had some gift cards so I think that justifies most of this haul. Well I also didn’t have gift cards, but it’s been a while since I’ve done a major haul so it’s fine. Everything I do is for the blog remember? I do this just for you guys. All I do is give.

Most of its from Ulta, but let’s go over the one thing not from there first. I finally got the China Glaze Summer collection (just in time for the end of summer, right?). I’m catching up on my summer collections now that I have a job and spending money again, so just bear with my timeline. That review of that full collection will be up on the blog in the next couple days! (If it helps, half the collection feels like fall to me).

But for the rest of the haul I blame Ulta. First, they send me that 20% off coupon. Then it’s 5x points on lip products, which are my true vice. Then I had a gift card, so you know, it would have been a true sin if I didn’t order anything from Ulta. (In other news, Ulta just sent out ANOTHER 20% coupon and I have another gift card. I’m being ATTACKED I tell you).

So you’ll see there’s a lot of lip products in the photo. I don’t have individual photos since I’ll be reviewing all of these more in depth in the next coming weeks. So stay tuned for these reviews and more!

NewItems

I’ll do a quick run through of the products I’ll be writing about!

From L’Oreal:
-the Lash Paradise mascara in ‘Blackest Black’
-one of their new matte lipsticks in ‘At the Drop of a Matte’, a bright purple color

From Maybelline:
-2 of the Super Stay Matte Ink Lip Color in ‘Loyalist’ and ‘Escapist’ – a light nude, and then a deep, vampy purple
-3 more shades of the metallic matte lipsticks in ‘White Gold’, ‘Pure Gold’, and Silk Stone. I absolutely love Maybelline’s lipsticks so when I see new ones, I want them all, and the fact that they’re metallic is even better. These join the other shade I picked up earlier in ‘Molten Bronze’.

From Revlon:
-2 of their shades of the Metallic matte lip colors (can you tell I want to try all of the metallic matte shades?) in ‘Glam’ and ‘Luster’

Finally from Essence:
-2 of their Metal Shock lipsticks in 02 and 08. (Again, with the metallic lipstick trend, I digress).

For most of these new formulas I wanted to pick up a couple shades from different sides of the range of colors to test out, and if I liked them, I would pick up more. I’m a lip product junkie, so I really can’t wait to try these all out. Be ready for all of the lip posts coming up in the next weeks!

So that’s my recent haul! See any products you’re excited about? Stay tuned for the reviews!

Review: Sally Hansen Crayola Collection

How is this my first Sally Hansen posts? You know, after this, it definitely wouldn’t be my last. Look at these pretty little rainbow babies. When I saw images of this collection first come out, I knew I had to get my grabby fingers on them. So I did!

I had some saved up gift cards (I don’t even know how a Target gift card lasted so long in my wallet but it did) so I thought it was perfect to buy this collection that I had my eye on. These retailed for $4.09 on Target’s website (same price as their normal Insta-Dri polishes), and the shipping was super fast and well packed.

The bottles are the typical Insta-Dri bottle shape, and have the Crayola name on them, as well as the traditional Crayola design on the bottle. Instead of the traditional black cap as well, the cap matches the color of the polish inside. I really love all of the attention to detail in this collection, and I’m so glad to have them as a collector.

I found that all of these polishes had pretty much the same formula, so I’m just going to talk about it up here all at once, instead of just saying the same thing over and over. I found all of these had a little bit of a thicker formula. This meant you can get them opaque in one thicker coat. I did find the one thicker coat can get a little blobby on the nails though, so I didn’t prefer it.

Although, with the wider paddle brush, I did prefer to work in thinner coats and go slowly on my nails. I do have thinner nails so it did basically cover my nail in one swipe. It was a bit of a learning curve, but once I slowed down and concentrated on swiping thinner, more controlled coats, I made less of a mess.

The formula can really run down the brush and flood everywhere, so just wipe the brush off well before you start. I did also find that with the thicker formula, if you din’t have enough polish on the brush, the coat could almost skip and not flow evenly to the end of the nail, so make sure you have enough to really coat the nail.

A little bit of a learning curve with these to avoid making messes, but with the beautiful colors and hella opaque formulas, it was so worth it. These also dry quickly as well, (shoutout Insta-Dri formula) so even if you do the 2 thinner coats, it’s super easy, and quick. So yeah they’re thicker, but once you get the hang of these, they’re just stunning. I mean, just look at the colors.

Now, for the individual swatches, we’re going to go in numerical order, not rainbow, I know it’s a tragedy. But I JUST WANT TO PUT THE NUMBERS IN ORDER OKAY. LET’S JUST GET INTO IT.

Review: CoverGirl Total Tease Mascara

Continuing on with the makeup reviews, I have another product from CoverGirl! I’ve actually had this mascara for a while, and just haven’t posted about it yet, whoops silly me. But that means, I really know it, obviously that’s why I waited so long, yeah that’s it.

Anywho, CoverGirl makes my all time favorite mascara, the Super Sizer, and I love many of their other ones, so anytime they come out with a new mascara I have to try it. It’s a sickness really. Let’s just get into the review already.

TBT: OPI ‘Hawaii’ Collection – 4 Shades

IT’S STILL SUMMER I TELL YOU. I’m holding onto summer as much as I can (even though I really love fall), but I’m mainly holding onto the bright nail colors. I’m not ready to give those up, so I’ve been going through my collection and pulling them out to wear and talk about. (And I’m going to have summer collections up so very soon, I know it’s late but better late than never, right?)

And I thought a great collection to do this with is the OPI Hawaii collection! I have 4 shades of it today, and I love all of them for the summertime. This was OPI’s collection for Spring of 2015, and featured bright shades all inspired by Hawaii. I love the 4 shades I have, and just want to pick up even more. (If I do get more, I’ll add to this post and update it).

I remember these shades being some of the very first OPIs I owned, and one of the first OPI collections that I really followed and wanted, so it’s a bit sentimental for me. I asked for these shades and got 4 of them from my mom, back when I didn’t buy whole collections myself, way back before blogging (when we still paid full price for OPIs, whoop). Back when I would ask for the newest OPI collection for my birthday, or Christmas, and hope I got a couple shades to play with. Back when the addiction was just brewing.

And I still love these shades today. They’re still classic shades and the Hawaii collection is still one I see referenced all the time. And perfect for the winding down summer. So let’s get into them.

Review: CoverGirl Outlast All-Day Soft Touch Concealer

Hey look, it’s a makeup review! It’s been a while since that’s happened. I have so many new products that I’ve been using over these past few weeks and I just haven’t written about them. I know, I don’t know what I’m doing either.

So I’m changing that. The next couple of weeks I’m going to (try to) be more gung ho and just really get some new reviews up. Especially because I have a couple of Ulta gift cards and a 20% off coupon, so that means soon I’ll have even more new things to test out. Gotta clear out some of the older stuff first – so stay tuned for lots of reviews coming up!

Alright here we go! Let’s get into this one!

Today, I have a new CoverGirl concealer. This came out with a powder and other products in their Outlast line. This is called the Outlast All-Day Soft Touch concealer. It comes in a squeezy tube.

Pure Ice New Shades!

Pure Ice is one of my favorite affordable nail polish brands. They’re exclusive to Walmart and they retail for only $2! Whenever they put out new polishes, I get my grabby hands all over them. I mean, come on, $2. It’s so easy to justify buying tons of them when they’re only $2 a piece, right?

They recently brought out a bunch of new shades – 16 to be exact, and I picked up 6 of them. I’ll be sure to update the post if (when) I pick up more. If you can’t find them in store, you can also buy all of the new shades on Walmart’s website!

So let’s get on into these swatches!
