NOTD: Essie’s ‘Viva Antigua’ + Revlon’s ‘Gold Glaze’

I finally picked up Essie’s ‘Viva Antigua’ after seeing so many swatches of the beautiful teal sparkly goodness. I had to have it really.

Lemme tell you I love it.

Then, to switch it up, I topped with Revlon’s Transforming Effects Top Coat in ‘Gold Glaze’ and

holy mermaid goodness.

It was so hard to capture the true beauty of this on camera, but I tried my dang best. I’m in love.

VivaAntigua-GoldGlaze

(Ignore the tip wear there, this is a couple-day old manicure).

The gold sparkle combines with the blue shimmer in ‘Viva Antigua’ and just creates this shimmery masterpiece.

Brb, going to go jump in the ocean and fulfill my mermaid dreams now.

Coming soon!

I ordered some shades from the new China Glaze Rebel Fall collection! I’m so dang exited for fall and all of these colors are just getting me all fuzzy inside.

I hope this will be the first review that I will have actual nail swatches as well! Look out for that in the upcoming weeks!

Also I fixed my blog! I realized that after people were clicking the link from my Instagram, they would view that one post and then click home and you wouldn’t be able to get to anymore posts from there. Luckily I figured that out and fixed it! All good things.

I have to say I’ve only had this blog for a little bit and I’m already loving interacting with everyone on it. It’s just my passion and I love talking to others with the same passion.

Until my next post,

Gingerly Polished.

NOTD: OPI ‘Pale to the Chief’

Holy fall nail polish is upon us.

All of the fall nail collections have suddenly dropped into our lives and I am so dang excited. I love fall, SO BRING IT ON.

Today, I have only one shade from the new OPI ‘CIA = Color is Awesome’ Washington, DC. fall collection. As soon as I saw swatches of this, I knew I had to have it – even at full price.

This is ‘Pale to the Chief’. It’s a light, pale nude with a soft pearl finish to it. It’s the perfect “mannequin hands” shade for me – the shade that perfectly matches your skin tone, like a mannequin. But because of the pearl shimmer, it keeps me from having dead hands. It’s so pretty. I love it.

Pale to the Chief

This did take 3 coats to get rid of any streaky. This is a thicker formula, and I found that if you work with it too much, or don’t have enough on your brush, it can be a little difficult to smooth out. So don’t wipe off your brush too much – but it’s still a great formula.

I hope to pick up more shades from this collection!

Discount: OPI from TJ Maxx – July

Along with the posts about various discounted nail polishes I stumble upon while wandering, I also want to post regularly about the OPI collections that are now appearing at my local TJ Maxx. TJ Maxx is where I have gotten most of my OPI polishes that weren’t gifts, because they always have them for at least half off or more.

At this point in my life at least, I can’t buy full collections when they first come out and at full price. So I’m constantly looking at my TJ Maxx for the latest collections, a little after they’ve come out and are now being phased out.

I’ll say this is for the month of July, as it’s been a couple of trips to the store to get these 6 polishes.

Discount: Revlon ‘Transforming Effects’ Polishes

If I am not at home, one can assume I’m at Walgreens looking at nail polish.

This may have been one of those times. It’s fine.

What I want to become a regular part of my blog will be posts about recent discounted nail polishes that I either spotted or picked up (we can probably assume if it’s discounted I picked it up). I love saving on nail polish, and hate paying full price, and I know many of my readers love and hate the same thing. So I’m going to try to do regular rounds of my local stores, to see what’s discounted that week, and then post about it for you. All of these posts will have “Discount” as the first word in the title, so you can tell right away.

Enough explanation. Let’s just get on to this discount haul.

I swagged on over to my local Wallygreens. Not seeing the new Wet N Wild collection (it always takes so long for new collections to get to my Walgreens), I decided to see if there was any clearance nail polish.

And then I spotted these Revlon nail polishes.

NOTD: OPI ‘A Great Opera-tunity’

An absolutely beautiful peachy pink nude cream from the Fall/ Winter 2015 “Venice” collection. You ever have a polish that was just made for you? This is it. It makes my hands and nails look so elegant and polished. The length of my nails right now is just perfect for it and I can’t stop looking at my nails. It’s going to be a favorite that I can wear pretty much year round.

NOTD: Essie ‘Aim to Misbehave’ – Essie’s 1000th Shade!

*NOTD=Nails of the Day. Hello yellow! Essie has put out it’s 1000th shade, and I picked it up – I told myself I needed it as a collector and blogger (that’s what I’m sticking to).

Essie’s 1000th shade is out as a part of their summer collection, the Shimmer Brights. I know this collection has been out for a while, and I might be a little late to the game – but it’s still summer and this shade is still very much available, so here’s a post anyways!

The 1000th shade is called ‘Aim to Misbehave’, and it’s a shimmery warm toned yellow with lots of microshimmer all throughout. My boyfriend describes it as a “shiny mustard” and I have to say I agree with that statement. The cap of the bottle has this cool little decoration with little “1000s” all over it. It reminds me of graduation and I don’t know why.

AimToMisbehave

It’s a nice formula, opaque in two coats. Depending on how you apply it, you might need 3 to cover your nail line. I noticed it’s a thicker formula, so it can be a little difficult to get smooth, if you don’t have enough on the brush but it’s not too frustrating. And it’s like it dries fast, so it’ll stick to itself as you’re trying to smooth it. But I also found it stays tacky for quite a while, which might be from the thicker coats I had to do. Nice, but not my favorite formula.

When removing it, don’t twist – I did this and got yellow just about everywhere. So just pull it off instead.

I also found that, yes, it’s a beautiful color, however it’s not beautiful on me. Because it is so warm toned, I found it just clashed with my cool skin tone. People with more olive toned skin-this will look beautiful on you. Me, however, it’ll stay as part of my collection and a cool thing for a nail polish obsessive person like me to have.

Essie doesn’t do yellows too often, so this is a cool shade to have in the collection. If you’re a collector at all – and maybe have yellow undertones to your skin – get this.

Review/Swatches: Sinful Colors ‘Stand Down to Stand Out’ FULL COLLECTION

group

I was over at Walgreens looking for the new back to school collection from Wet N Wild. My Walgreens didn’t have it yet, but they did have this collection from Sinful Colors.

Now, I’m not going to lie. I had seen this for a while and hadn’t picked it up because of the ‘Camo’ name. (All my experiences of Camo were from my small town high school and I wasn’t ready to revisit that). But I finally caved, and bought the whole collection, as the glitters included really intrigued me. And I mean, it’s Sinful Colors so the whole thing was only $16 to pick up.

Review/Swatches: L’Oreal ‘Gold Dust’ FULL COLLECTION

GroupI was grocery shopping when I had to swag over to the beauty section to find some toner. While meandering over there I saw a clearance section. It had nail polish on it and well… I’m not sorry for what I’ve done.

All of the polishes that I picked up were from the textured ‘Gold Dust’ collection L’Oreal put out in the beginning of 2014. I had ‘The Statement Piece’ already and absolutely loved it, so when I saw other shades from this collection, especially for only $2.50, I snatched. Snatched so hard.

My First Post!

Here’s my first post on my new blog, Gingerly Polished, an entirely nail polish dedicated blog. I’m just a college student that buys entirely too much nail polish and then talks about it to strangers on the Internet.

Nail polish excites me, and I know there’s people out there that are excited by it too. That’s what this blog is for. Just a chat about nail polish – new ones I’ve picked up, new collections that are coming out, and great deals on nail polish I find.

I can’t promise to post on a regular schedule – I’m heading into my senior year of college, so it’s about to get crazy. But because it’s something I love, whenever I can, I will put a post up. My goal is once a week, but sometimes that might not happen.

I also can’t promise to have ALL of the newest collections. Again, I am a college student. Although I do have a job I love that pays me enough for rent and all that, I don’t have endless amounts of money for nail polish and to buy every single one that comes into the market each season. Now, I do spend a lot more money on nail polish than the average person – this is because it’s my passion. I’m not buying video games, music, or anything else like that. I’m choosing to spend my extra on my passion – which happens to be mass amounts of nail polish.

I try to never spend more than $5 on a single bottle. This means I like to stick to Sinful Colors, Pure Ice, and those other drugstore brands. I will always buy an OPI if I find a good deal (OPI is my favorite nail polish brand), and I’ll always tell you where you can potentially find that same deal.

I’ll always provide swatches, whether on nail wheel or on actual nails when I can, whenever talking about a polish.

No matter what, there will be nail polish for the junkie inside all of us. That’s all that matters.

Enjoy, Gingerly Polished.
