OPI ‘Lisbon’ Spring 2018 Collection + Sally Beauty Exclusives

Look at this! It’s a spring post! That’s right, I’m finally getting spring posts up. (Even though it’s holding out at a solid 40 degrees here but you know). I had a lovely weekend home for Easter, and rode back on the train today. Am the only one just grossly fascinated with trains? I ride them every day and they still fill me full of wonder.

Enough trains. This is a beauty blog (but there’s beauty in trains, right?) and we have a collection to talk about! Today I have the OPI ‘Lisbon’ collection, based off the lovely town in Portugal. I haven’t been there yet, but it’s definitely on my list.

This is mainly full of bright and rich creams and some shimmer. I have the 12 core shades, as well as the 3 Sally Beauty Exclusive shades at the end. There’s a lot of bottles and a lot of nails to get through, so let’s get right into it!

OPI ‘Love OPI, XOXO’ Winter 2017 Collection

YO GIRL HAS ANOTHER WINTER REVIEW FOR YA.

That’s right, I’m still making my way through these holiday collections, and we’re halfway through. I have another 12 bottle collection from China Glaze, and then Orly, and then we’ll finally be finished and begging for the spring and summer sun.

Since this is a 12 bottle collection, standard from OPI, it’s a long post, so I’ll stop rambling and just get on into it.

This winter collection is called ‘Love OPI, XOXO’, and as you might be able to tell, it’s a very glam, sparkly, girly collection. PERFECT FOR FEBRUARY, AM I RIGHT. Hey, I’m an advocate of wearing whatever color you want, no matter the season. So be blingy in February, when everything is dull and gray. So let’s get into the swatches already.

Review: OPI ‘Iceland’ Fall 2017

Yo girl is here with another fall collection review. I’m currently in my bed home from work today, so in between falling asleep, I finally was able to finish up this review. (Don’t worry, I’ll be back at work and raring to go again after lots of good sleep, just took one sick day). I already had all the photos done, so I just needed to put them together and here they are!

I’ll be honest with you guys, I wasn’t fully in love with the spring and summer collections from OPI this year. I thought the formulas weren’t exactly top notch, and the colors were just okay.

But this fall collection… there’s a reason fall is my favorite season. When I saw promos for this collection, I was honestly quite excited. All of the colors looked perfect for fall, and if we remember the Washington D.C. collection from last fall, the formulas are stunning.

This is the OPI Iceland collection for fall, based on Iceland the country, obvi, so of course we have OPI’s beautiful puns in all the names. It’s a standard 12 piece collection, and is full of 9 creams, 2 shimmers and 1 metallic.

These didn’t disappoint. OPI, you’re back to yourself.

I know I’m going to be a bit of a broken record here with this review, as I found most of these had a very similar formula – and spoiler alert, it’s beautiful.

All of these had incredibly smooth and easy formulas, with all but 1 needing only 2 coats. OPI did it again with the creams and I’m so in love. So let’s just get into me gushing about this collection.

NOTD & a Little Update

Hey friends and readers – I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted, let alone since I’ve been posting regularly.

My life has been going through some switches – I recently got a job at Starbucks, so that schedule was all over the place and I was trying to adjust and figure out time to paint my nails. It was harder considering I couldn’t wear nail polish while working so I was really losing any motivation to paint on polish just to take it off again.

TBT: OPI ‘Hawaii’ Collection – 4 Shades

IT’S STILL SUMMER I TELL YOU. I’m holding onto summer as much as I can (even though I really love fall), but I’m mainly holding onto the bright nail colors. I’m not ready to give those up, so I’ve been going through my collection and pulling them out to wear and talk about. (And I’m going to have summer collections up so very soon, I know it’s late but better late than never, right?)

And I thought a great collection to do this with is the OPI Hawaii collection! I have 4 shades of it today, and I love all of them for the summertime. This was OPI’s collection for Spring of 2015, and featured bright shades all inspired by Hawaii. I love the 4 shades I have, and just want to pick up even more. (If I do get more, I’ll add to this post and update it).

I remember these shades being some of the very first OPIs I owned, and one of the first OPI collections that I really followed and wanted, so it’s a bit sentimental for me. I asked for these shades and got 4 of them from my mom, back when I didn’t buy whole collections myself, way back before blogging (when we still paid full price for OPIs, whoop). Back when I would ask for the newest OPI collection for my birthday, or Christmas, and hope I got a couple shades to play with. Back when the addiction was just brewing.

And I still love these shades today. They’re still classic shades and the Hawaii collection is still one I see referenced all the time. And perfect for the winding down summer. So let’s get into them.

OPI ‘California Dreaming’ Summer 2017 Collection – Swatch/Review

It’s the first day of summer! I got my butt into gear to give you the first post of the summer collections on the first day of summer! – Eh, eh, you see what I did there?

While I was in Europe, I saw a post about a flash sale on this collection, and bought it right up. The whole collection for $50 – shipped! Considering OPI normally retails for $10 a bottle, that’s a steal. Seriously, follow ‘Skyline Beauty Supply’ on Instagram, as they’re always offering 24 Hour Flash Deals on the newest collections. I’ve ordered from them a couple times and have been super satisfied – their shipping is so fast as well!

Anyways, the OPI Summer 2017 collection is called ‘California Dreaming’ and is a standard 12 bottle collection. It features 10 creams, and 2 metallics, based on the state of California! It’s a collection of a small shade range, featuring pinks, reds and orange tones.

OPI ‘Fiji’ Spring 2017 Collection + Comparisons

I know, I know. I’m a little late to the game with this, but I’m still posting it. Hey man, it’s my blog isn’t it? I’ll have the summer collection from OPI coming up soon as well!

But for now, let’s stick to spring. As usual this is a 12 piece collection (OPI is how I go bankrupt with these 12 piece collections), full of mostly creams inspired by the tropical island of Fiji. I picked mine up off Ulta’s website when I had a buy one get one free coupon for OPI.

Into the swatches! Comparisons will also be at the bottom! My lighting is a little different on this one too – I’m at my parents house so I went with good ol’ fashioned daylight! But they’re all color accurate.

TBT: OPI ‘New Orleans’ Collection

Welcome to my first ‘TBT’ collection post! This is when I’m taking an older collection that’s been out for a while, that I own, where I just talk about it again. Collections I’ve never swatched or posted about, but are still relevant and around.

I’ve seen this done before, and really like the idea, and for my birthday/Christmas, my boyfriend gifted me the entire ‘New Orleans’ collection from OPI. I’m so lucky he enables my addiction. And it just seemed perfect for a throwback post.

So today’s TBT post is about the OPI ‘New Orleans’ collection, as you might have gathered from earlier. This is still fully available in Ulta stores, so you can still get your hands on many of these shades (if you haven’t yet, there are some definite ones in here to consider).

This collection came out for Spring 2016, so it’s still relatively new, and fitting timing with the Spring 2017 collection coming soon! It’s a 12 piece collection of mainly creams, with 2 shimmers, and 1 metallic. It’s a big collection so let’s just get into it!

Swatch/Review: OPI ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ Holiday 2016 Collection

Late? But it’s still the holidays, so everyone else is simply early.

I have some of the Breakfast at Tiffany’s shades from OPI today! Now, I’m going to be honest, I have not seen the movie, so all of these shade names really go over my head. Oh well. It’s still pretty nail polish.

This was supposed to go up Thursday, but that was my 22nd birthday! Yay! My lovely roommate and best friend bought me tickets to go see Panic! at the Disco, so obviously my Thursday was not spent blogging, and instead spent looking at Brendon Urie. Swoon. But now we’re in the middle of a big snowstorm, so what better thing to do than blog! I’m so cozy in a blanket right now.

Comparison: ‘Pearl Jammin’ vs. ‘Oh My Majesty’

I have a comparison post today! Spoiler alert: it’s clear right away that these two polishes are not a dupe for each other at all. But they had the same red flash of shimmers that at first quick glance made me put them both next to each other.

Today I’m comparing China Glaze’s ‘Pearl Jammin” from their Rebel Fall 2016 collection and OPI’s ‘Oh My Majesty’ from their Alice Through the Looking Glass collection.

After all of my fruitless searching for ‘Pearl Jammin” I finally saw it on Amazon and jumped at it, as I knew I had to have it in my grabby hands. And I finally have it painted on my grabby hands, and I’m never taking it off. This shade is so beautiful, buy it immediately if you see it.

Anyways, onto the comparison! ‘Pearl Jammin” is on my pointer and ring fingers, and ‘Oh My Majesty’ is on my middle and pinky fingers!

As you can see, ‘Pearl Jammin” is much more blue-toned while ‘Oh My Majesty’ is obviously more of a white pearly color. But as you can see they both have that beautiful red-orange flash in them. It’s a little more pronounced in ‘Pearl Jammin” but still stunning in both.

So obviously not dupes, or not even as close as I thought they would be on first glance. But just a comparison for reference!
