PR SAMPLE
Over here just swatching, swatching, swatching all my feelings away. We have SO many polishes to talk about, and ugh, I can’t wait to show them all to you. So this time I won’t ramble and let’s just get RIGHT into it!
Like I said, Sally Hansen has been busy this year, releasing all sorts of new shades and formulas and finishes! Getting these packages has made me pay more attention to their releases, and I’m so glad I’ve been able to try all of these out! (I was going to purchase some of these metallic shades myself before I got the email about em, so it worked out). They’ve got some beautiful neons that have released up in Canada, that I hope come on down here so I can snatch em up.
But we’re talking about these bad boys right now. These are part of their Insta-Dri line. They’re a new collection called Matte Metallics, and they’re well, matte metallics. They have the ‘Matte’ label on the bottle, as well as around the cap.
I have 6 of the 8 shades available – the other two are a deep cobalt blue, and a deep purple. Those sound stunning in this finish, so I might have to pick them up as well!
You can find these on Target’s website for $4 and Ulta’s website for $5 – as well as other drugstores like Walgreens and CVS.
Let’s get into the shades now!
I found pretty much all of these shades had a similar formula, so I’ll quick review it here, and then note any sort of exception under each individual shades!
These were all easily opaque in 2 thin coats – some in 1 coat! (I’ll put which ones under each individual photos). As with any matte polishes, I found it was best to paint these on in as few strokes as possible, and then avoid overworking them – as they dry, if you keep trying to polish, I found polish could lift up and get a little uneven and patchy. But these are smooth and easy to paint on, so you won’t have to worry about needing to work it extra. Also make sure these are entirely dry before the next coat – I picked up some polish near the cuticles being impatient (and these dry quickly, so I’m just an animal).
But enough about what not to do! These are so easy to work with, and they’ll be beautiful so don’t worry about a thing and don’t overthink it.
With the metallic nature of these as well, the matte finish looks almost satin and velvety and I’m just in love. I’m a sucker for matte polishes, and these are just lovely. Now enough yammering, let’s look at the polishes already.
***
‘Rose Flush’ is a lot more rosy in the bottle than it is on the nails. Once painted on, she’s a nice peachy golden shade. More sheer 1st coat, but an easy 2 coats and it’s opaque.
***
‘Gold Rush’ is a bright yellow gold shade. This had a thinner, more runny formula than the others, so it can flood the cuticle if you get too thick of a coat on. But it was opaque in an easy 2 thin coats. And it just glows on the nails.
***
‘Smoldering Teal’ was one of the shades I immediately gravitated when I saw em all in the box. She’s a soft teal shade and another easy 2 coats. Another that just glows on the nails and is beautiful with that matte finish.
***
‘Smoky Silver’ is a traditional silver. It will need a 2nd coat, but it was an easy 2 coats overall. Another that the matte finish helps to make it more unique!
***
‘Molten Mauve’ is a gorgeous deep burgundy red shade. One that could be opaque in 1 thicker coat, and will be stunning later on during the (I’m sorry to mention this when it’s finally warm) holidays.
***
And last, but certainly not least, my favorite of the bunch. This is ‘Burnished Wine’, a beautiful deep burgundy brown-red shade with a slight gold shift, and larger silver sparkles. I’ll just let the pictures speak for it. It had a more sheer 1st coat, but I got it opaque with a 2nd thicker coat. And I’m in love. Give me more shifty matte shades, thank you.

And those are their new matte metallic shades! I’m a sucker for metallic shades so I loved these, especially that matte velvet finish. My absolute favorite was ‘Burnished Wine’ followed by ‘Molten Mauve’. They were all easy formulas, and they’re so affordable so they’re easy to snag when you see them in a store!

Molten Mauve and Burnished Wine look yummy!
“…these dry quickly, so I’m just an animal,” cracked me up! But I know the feeling – when you’re excited about all the polishes you are swatching, there is definitely a desire to tear through them all that must be resisted!

When you’re swatching through a lot, even 2 minutes can seem like forever! Hahaha
