Sally Hansen x Jelly Belly 2020 – Swatches & Review

Listen, we all know what’s happening right now, no need to remind, but during this time I’ve definitely hit periods of “I don’t want to do anything I just want to play Animal Crossing or the Sims 4”. And because of that some blog posts got left behind, so we’re playing a little bit of catch up, and getting these out of the queue!

I posted these swatches on my Instagram a while ago now (follow me to see them all as they post, and sometimes even before these posts go up). These are the next installment of the Sally Hansen and Jelly Belly collaboration! The first release came out around the same time last year, just in time for Easter. There were 11 total shades released then – with 3 crelly glitter mixes and 8 cream shades. I picked up 7 of them (you can see that full post here – especially as some of these shades were re-released for this new collection).

For this new release we have 9 shades, 6 new shades and 3 repromotes. The 3 re-promotes are ‘Tutti-Fruitti’, ‘Island Punch’ and ‘Green Apple’. I had Tuitti Fruitti from the last collection, and ended up grabbing ‘Island Punch’ this round. Those will both be shown at the end of the post!

The other difference is that the last collection had plain white caps with the printed Jelly Belly logo, while these have pearl white caps with the logo. Otherwise the bottles are the same! (Please enjoy my quick phone photo for this year’s, I forgot to take a real photo and didn’t want to leave it out!)

For the other 6 new shades we have a nice variety of different finishes and colors! I think I like this half even more than the 1st! So let’s get into the swatches already!

OPI Neo-Pearl Nail Lacquer Collection – Swatches & Review

We’re in the middle of a lovely thunderstorm here right now, and it’s just so warm and cozy listening to it! Thunderstorms are my favorite things when I can just sit and listen too them. Taking any positives I can get right now! What’s your favorite kind of weather?

And the perfect thing for thunderstorms is reading reviews, right? Today we’re looking at the 2nd “half” of the OPI Neo-Pearl collection. This is in the regular lacquer (you can find the Infinite Shine review here). These shades have the more traditional pearl finish that you were picturing with the collection name, and it’s 6 shades of lighter pearly goodness! Just like the other half I purchased these from polishpick.com!

For this collection, I’m showing the polish swatched on its own, and then I also showed the polish with a sponged on final coat! This smooths out the brushstrokes if you don’t want them on the nails. I like to always show the polish how it’ll show on most normal people, but for this collection I knew I wanted to try out the sponging technique since it’s often recommended for pearls! So look for that after each normal swatch!

So I sponged on a final shade, and then topped it with a glossy top coat, as sponging gives it a more matte finish. And for sponging, after doing 2-3 regular coats – I use makeup wedges, paint a layer of polish onto the sponge, and then dab it onto the nail until it’s nice and smooth! It was super easy and quick.

Now into the actual colors!

OPI Neo-Pearl Infinite Shine Collection – Swatches & Review

I was being a good little productive bean yesterday – I cleaned and took out the trash (I have to go down 3 flights of stairs to do it, so I have to mentally work up to it, okay), made some banana bread and sourdough starter (she’s really on a baking journey) and swatched this whole collection. I was fully intending to continue right on and get this edited and posted yesterday as well, but then I was like “you know, I’ve been good, I want to play some Sims” and 4 hours later it was 8pm and I didn’t know how. It happens to the best of us. And during this time, we’re all allowed to play the Sims for however long we want.

But now I just want to talk about some new polish, and so let’s do that!

OPI recently released a new collection called the ‘Neo-Pearl’ collection, and as expected, it features polishes with a more pearly finish. I think this might be the first time we’ve seen a collection include both regular lacquers and the Infinite Shine polishes that aren’t just the same color! And so it’s been the 1st time I’ve been interested in an Infinite Shine collection as well!

There are 6 polishes in the Infinite Shine release that are soft bases with subtle shimmer, and then 6 polishes in the regular polish that are full on pearl finishes (that post will be coming after this one). Today we’re looking at the Infinite Shine polishes!

NeoPearl-InfiniteShine

If you’re not familiar with the Infinite Shine line, OPI describes it as a “3-step system to a long-lasting nail polish color”. So they’re like OPI’s version of “gel-like” colors, with a special top and base coat that promises to give you longer lasting and shinier polish. They all come in the bottles with the silver caps, and the regular colors are labeled with a 2 as they’re the “middle step”. I’ve never tried the whole system, and I never wear my polish for more than a couple of the days so I can’t testify to the wear. These are actually the first Infinite Shine shades I’ve ever tried – so I can’t compare them to the other colors or really give you a review of the whole line all together. We’re just talking about these 6 polishes individually and their formula and wear, but wanted to give some context!

I, of course, picked these all up from polishpick.com. They have the regular polishes for ($5.25, regularly $10.50, so literally half the price) and the Infinite Shine shades for $6.50 each (regularly $13).

Orosa Beauty Desert Garden Trio – Swatches & Review

***

Listen, I got a wee bit behind on my posts, so you’re about to get like 4 in a row as I finally catch up. It’s quarantine y’all and we aren’t shaming people for not being productive here. But every so often the productive bug hits here, and I have to hold onto it AS LONG AS I CAN.

So on this post, we’re talking about Orosa Beauty baybeeee. They were kind enough to send on over to me the 2nd half of their Desert Garden collection. The first 3 shades released in the beginning of March, and now we’re looking at the 2nd 3 shades to be released! It features 3 bright cream shades inspired by the tones of the desert, and I couldn’t wait to pop these suckers onto my nails. (And as always, even though they were kindly gifted to me, all opinions are honest and my own.)

These are available on the Orosa Beauty website for $12 each, or $62 when you buy the full collection.

Let’s get into the swatches now!

Monthly Manis: March 2020

Now, it’s no secret that Sinful Colors is the biggest part of my collection. They’re the brand I started reviewing when I started this blog way back in 2016, because they’re so dang cheap (and I was on a college student budget at that point). And they come out with tons of collections a year, so they easily build up quickly. These collections are often with fun and interesting finishes, so it can be harder for me to let them go.

So for this month’s #MonthlyManis, I made it a #SinfulMarch! I only pulled Sinful Colors polishes and I focused on all of the singles outside of collections. I had a period there where I was very obsessed with just collecting any older Sinful Colors polishes that I could, just because they were older Sinful Colors. I had a weird collector moment, where I just wanted them all just to have them all.

And then I came to my senses and realized that wasn’t feasible, especially with how many other polishes from different brands that I constantly have coming in. I live in a studio apartment in Chicago, and I don’t have the space and storage to collect them all and keep them if I don’t like the polish at all. So my main goal this month was to go through this large group of untried polishes and see what I just don’t love, and what I can pass on. There are other people out there who collect Sinfuls, and have great archives of them, so I’m not needed to do that. It was a big thing for me to realize that I don’t need to keep everything, and letting go of things that I just don’t like is alright!

Now obviously I still have a lot to go in this group. I started out well trying polishes but then of course, events happened and I wasn’t wearing polish as often. But now I’m getting into a better routine of painting my nails and cycling through polishes. And especially once my swatch sticks get here, I can continue to put the polishes onto sticks and feel out formulas that way as well! I’m getting rid of polishes that I just didn’t like at all, and especially with non-unique colors, if I didn’t love it, they were gone. I have too many dang polishes to keep ones I don’t like at this point.

So let’s look at the ones I was able to try this month and whether or not I’m keeping them!

China Glaze x Trolls World Tour Collection 2020 – Swatches & Review

I’m being a good little productive bean here and catching up on some posts! Listen, I had a time where I just didn’t have the motivation to blog AND THAT’S OKAY. I’ve been telling myself it’s okay to not be productive 24/7 while quarantining, and it’s a very important lesson we all need. Like if you just need to lay around in bed? Lay around in bed, y’all! It’s a weird time and we need to be nice to ourselves right now and it’s important to relax and give ourselves some rest!

Okay spiel that’s mostly to myself is over now. I’m back in for blogging because it’s a lovely distraction for not just me, but others right now, and I always find it relaxing! There will definitely continue to be reviews here for you to read, and lots of polish to talk about! I’ll also be reviewing some older collections that I never got a chance to review, so it’ll be a nice little mix all around! Nail polish is always here for us.

So today, we have a new China Glaze collection! This is an 8 piece collection in collaboration with the new Trolls World Tour movie, and is their Spring 2020 release. It features 8 bright and colorful shades with names that reference the movies. All of the caps are printed with the hand that says “Trolls World Tour”.

I purchased this collection from polishpick.com, aka my favorite place to buy discounted new collections that you’ve heard enough about already.

So let’s get into the swatches already!
