Orly Euphoria Summer 2019 Collection

PURCHASED

Good God, it is HOT today. My sweet little Midwestern self can’t handle this heat. It’s 95 here today (with a heat index of 104), and I’m melting. You can bet I parked my happy lil butt right in front of the AC when I got home, electricity bills be damned! I was naive and thought the 70s we enjoyed for the past couple of days was here to stay, I just forgot the 90s we had the week before ever happened. Call me weak, but I live in a place that had a Polar Vortex this year. So yes, I’m going to comment on the heat as it continues on like a normal summer.

So it’s fitting that there’s a polish called ‘Muy Caliente’ in this collection we’re talking about today. HEYOOOOO.

***

I picked this collection up as part of their Color Pass program! I’ve talked about this in my other Orly posts, but a little refresher: it’s where you pay $119 up front, and then you get the 4 Orly collections for the year shipped to you as they release. You also get little fun extras in each box!

I’ve told many people, it’s definitely worth it if you’re planning on picking up all of these collections like I do. It can be a big cost up front, but it’s done and over with, and then you’re set for the rest of the year. You can start it at any time – however, you’ll only get the summer box if you sign up before July 14th! (Most likely, you would have to wait until the fall collection releases, and get the 4 collections starting then if you sign up after).

However, if you want to buy individual shades and aren’t looking for full collections, of course, this wouldn’t be your best value. I’ve found the best prices on transdesign.com for individual Orly shades!

Now, let’s talk about this box!

Orly ‘Radical Optimism’ Spring 2019 Collection Swatches

We’re continuing on with spring reviews! (As it continues snowing here as well). My apartment was being shown all weekend, so I definitely got less swatching than I wanted done. But of course, posts will still be coming, don’t you worry about that. For now, shall we talk about this polish?

Today I have the Orly Spring collection! This is called the ‘Radical Optimism’ collection, and came in the Orly Color Pass.

Funny story, this box actually came to me free! I got a delivery notification for it, and was confused as I hadn’t renewed my Color Pass yet (but was fully planning to later). I hadn’t gotten charged for it, so I emailed customer service to see what happened. And turns out they had sent it to me accidentally! They told me to go ahead and keep it – super quick response and lovely customer service. It was just a lovely surprise for me. I had fully planned on renewing and getting this box myself, so I wasn’t mad!

Orly ‘Deep Wonder’ Holiday 2018 Collection

I was so caught up working on the longer Wet N Wild collection post, I forgot to have smaller ones scheduled in between while I was working on it. Whoops. How do these other YouTubers and bloggers do that so well? Scheduling, and having posts pre-written will definitely be one of the skills I work on in 2019.

But here’s a post! It’s here, and I’m working on more! Hah, I swear I’m a great blogger after these 2 years. (Wild to think it’s been over 2 years). Enough blabbering. Onto the review.

Orly ‘The New Neutrals’ Fall 2018 Collection

It’s officially fall (yeah I know it has been for a while now, but now it *really* feels like fall, it’s got that just smell in the air), and it’s my favorite season, both in weather and nail polish and makeup.

So Orly is up first for the fall posts (with lots more to follow)! As I always say, I have Orly Color Pass. That means, I paid up front at the beginning of the year, and then throughout the year, they automatically send out the 4 collections along with some other fun goodies in each box. I really like it, and it’s the cheaper price I’ve found for Orly (it worked out to $4-$5 per polish).

The box for Fall 2018 showed on my doorstep not too long ago. The collection for this season is ‘The New Neutral’, and as you can imagine it’s some lovely neutral shades. It’s a 6 piece collection just like normal, with 5 creams and 1 metallic. It’s not the most exciting to us collectors, I’ll admit. But I love a good Orly cream formula, and if you’re looking to build up a collection, these are great shades to have. Let’s get right into it!

ColorPass-Fall18

Up first is the lightest and most neutral of the collection. This is ‘Snuggle Up’ (which I always want to do in these chillier fall months of course), and it’s my perfect “mannequin hands” shade for me and a lovely palette cleanser.

This had a sheer first coat, but it was a smooth formula, so at least it wasn’t uneven. I got it opaque in a 2nd thicker coat. The formula is beautiful so it’s so easy to control and won’t flood the cuticles.

When I get neutral this light, they can weirdly wash me out, or be sheer with a difficult formula. I surprisingly loved this nude, and it’s a perfect palette cleanser that still makes my hands look alive.

SnuggleUp

Up next is ‘Mauvelous’. (This is a little more peachy than mauve so who knows). This is a warm toned peachy neutral shade. Another that had a smooth 1st coat, but it will need at least 2 coats. This was another thicker formula, so it didn’t run the brush and I was easily able to paint all my nails. It was still easy to control. Another with 2 easy coats.

Mauvelous

‘Cashmere Crisis’ (sounds like a crisis I want to have) is a lovely taupe shade. This is another lovely cream shade from Orly – 2 easy coats.

CashmereCrisis

‘Olive You Kelly’ is an olive green cream shade. All of the cream shades in this collection are just stunning, and all 1-2 coats. This shade was almost 1 coat. I used 2 here to smooth out some of my ridges, but 1 thicker coat will do it.

OliveYouKelly

The last cream shade of the collection is ‘Seize the Clay’. This is a nice deep raspberry shade, and it’s got a nice touch of warmth to it. Perfect for fall.

Just like the previous shade, this was almost 1 coat – I used 2 to smooth out any uneven spots and my ridges. Again, I can’t sing the praises of the cream shades enough.

SeizetheClay

Last but certainly not least, is the metallic shade of the bunch. This is ‘Fall Into Me’, and it’s a nice bronzey shade for fall. This was pretty well opaque on 1 coat. As you can see, there are brush strokes – really any metallic like this will get them, you can sponge on the last layer to get rid of them. Or just paint straight and carefully to help that. It can run down the brush a little and flood the cuticles if you get too much on the nail, so just make sure to wipe the brush off before applying.

Metallic shades like this aren’t my absolute favorite because of the brush strokes, but it is a nice standard shade for fall.

FallIntoMe

So of course I’ll be honest about this, and point out how they’re not the most original and unique colors and finishes. But that’s the collector in me. Considering I’m constantly getting in the new mainstream collections, and have a large amount of polish already – so a polish has really gotta step it up to wow me. So that’s always what I mean when I say that. I fully understand that when mainstream brands are making collections, they’re for, you know, sane normal people, unlike me LOL. These are still beautiful colors, and if you see some that you like, I recommend because there were beautiful formulas here! Random little sidebar over.

Overall, I think Orly is an underrated brand. They’ve been putting out great collections this past year, with beautiful formulas. They’re becoming one of my favorite brands. So I recommend the creams from this collection.

As I always say, lots of reviews are on their way! I’ve got fall AND halloween collections (which I love so much) coming up! Stay tuned!

Orly ‘Neon Earth’ Summer 2018 Collection

It’s the first of summer posts! Before summer officially starts! I don’t know about you guys, but we had our one official week of summer here in Chicago. Memorial Day weekend, it was in the 90s and beautiful all week, and now it’s gone away, back down to 60s and 70s. Selfish of me to want more, I know.

But enough about the hot weather already come and gone, let’s talk about some bright polishes!

Starting off the season again with Orly, which is becoming one of my favorite brands really. Let’s get into it.

Orly ‘Pastel City’ Spring 2018 Collection

Yooooooo more spring collection posts! I know, I’m like the slowest nail blogger ever, especially as summer collections are being announced (looking at you OPI, and Essie.) But I’m trying to kick it into high gear and try to somehow get back on schedule (it’s funny that ‘on schedule’ in the swatching world is technically being a season ahead. But whatever, it’s the cross I chose to bear).

But anyways, let’s get right into this one. This is the Orly Spring 2018 collection. It’s a traditional 6 bottle collection and it’s called ‘Pastel City’. It’s made up of 3 light creams and 3 frosty shimmers.

I don’t know about you guys, but I still think Orly is just underrated. From their summer collection on last year, they’ve been putting out fabulous formulas. So I just always want to give them a place on my blog. They deserve it.

This is my first collection, and first experience with the Orly Color Pass! It’s where you pay up front ($119 – that equals to about $4 a bottle) for all 4 collections at the beginning of the year. And then, throughout the year, as collections are released, they’re automatically sent over to you. It’s super nice, and I love the idea of having all the collections already scheduled out to come to me. You can read more about it here. And each of the boxes comes with a fun little presentation, as well as other little items. The spring box came with a scrunchie and a bottle of cuticle oil. Super cute, and I’m here for it.

So let’s finally get into the collection, shall we?

Orly ‘Darlings of Defiance’ Winter 2017 Collection

We finally made it through Winter collections! And before the first day of Spring! That was really my main goal. I planned on having this up earlier, but I was hosting visitors at my apartment last weekend, and then was recovering from that, while simultaneously having a super busy week where I was barely home.

But now, now I’ve had time to sit down and work through some posts. I’ve got this one, as well as the OPI Lisbon collection, the Wet n Wild Goth-o-Graphic collection, and the new Sinful Colors core shades coming your way, so lots of good reviews for now.

But for now, like the random cold snap we’ve been having over here, we’re going back to Winter. Specifically the last Winter collection that had been hanging out in my home unloved.

It’s been a while since I’ve swatched an Orly collection – I skipped out on the summer collection. I was already behind season in swatching for those, and wasn’t interested in the neons by the time I got around to it, so I just passed. But that by no means I don’t love Orly. I missed them truly, and I’m glad to have some bottles in my hands again. And lemme tell you, they really found their way back in my heart again, and made me regret putting them off so long. But don’t worry, they’re getting their day now.

Review: Orly ‘Velvet Dream’ Fall 2017 Collection

It’s still November, and the snow hasn’t stuck here yet, so that means I’m not late on fall collections yet, right? Right? Yes?

I know these have been a long time coming, but I finally got my hands on the polishes and the time to review these. That’s right, I’m finally reviewing fall collections! I mean, you can still buy these polishes, and most shades are still perfect for winter, so why not? And I still want to so obviously that’s all that matters. Welcome to my blog, everyone.

The first of the fall collections is from Orly! I feel like I haven’t reviewed Orly in so long – I did pass on their summer collection since I wouldn’t have gotten it until later, and by then I was no longer feeling the neons that made up half of it. Now the last collection of Orly’s I reviewed was their spring collection, and that was just a dud (see the Lala collection review here).

But I still loved Orly, and I still had hope that they wouldn’t disappoint me for fall. And thank god, it’s so much better.

This fall collection is called ‘Velvet Dream’ and features 6 shades. I bought mine off transdesign.com. So let’s get right into the swatches!

Swatch/Review: Orly ‘La La Land’ Spring 2017 Collection

SPRING IS ON ITS WAY. Well, that’s what I’m going to pretend anyways as all of these beautiful soft spring collections come to us. Welcome to my first spring post!

Today I have the Orly ‘La La Land’ collection, as based on the movie of the same name that just came out. I HAVEN’T SEEN IT YET SO NO SPOILERS. This also means I don’t know exactly what the names are referencing to, oops. Whatever they’re pretty colors and new nail polish so duh I got them.

I purchased mine off transdesign.com, as with nearly all of the new collections I get.

This is a 6 piece collection, as most Orly collections seem to be. There are 5 creamy pastel shades and then one shimmery topper.

Swatch/Review: Orly ‘Sunset Strip’ Holiday 2016 FULL Collection

HELLO EVERYONE.

It feels like so long since I’ve posted (even though it’s only been like 2 weeks but it feels like forever). I got crazy busy with school as like 7 different projects (exaggerating it was 2) and then catching up after getting back from Vegas. Woe is me.

But don’t worry! I’m back and will be once again regularly posting.

Anyways! The holiday collections have officially started here on the blog! And first up is Orly.

I haven’t reviewed Orly yet here and that’s about to change. After having a couple Orly polishes I loved them and definitely want more. Not to mention that there is more polish in their bottles (.6 fl oz. vs .5 fl oz) for the same price as a China Glaze. DEALS.

Their 2016 Holiday collection is called ‘Sunset Strip’ and has 6 colors. They’re all bright jewel tones that totally make me feel like a movie star ready to get into all the fancy clubs. Let me in, bouncer.

Onto the swatches and review!
