Sally Hansen x Crayola ‘Glam Rock’ Metallic Collection

Lord. It’s cold. I’m sitting in my basement apartment, with blankets shoved into cracks under doors and closet and any place I can feel any sort of cold air trying to weasel it’s way into my apartment. I also have a lil space heater pointed at me at all times and will be spending all of my time just bundled up in a nest of blankets. We’re heading into the POLAR VORTEX, y’all. Wednesday this week is calling for a HIGH of -11 and windchills down to -40 so I might actually die. I can’t wait to swatch bright spring collections with some double digit negative temps. BRING IT ON.

The Midwest can be wild and I’ll never leave. This is my fault for always wanting to live next to a lake for the rest of my life, and this is the burden I carry.

Now, anyways. Let’s talk about something great you can do inside, and that’s putting on pretty nail polish. That’s right, this is the perfect weather for me because now I have an excuse to just hide out in my apartment for all free hours and swatch and take pictures of nail polish. I did plan to have this review posted yesterday, but I needed to take the group shot, and broke my SD card and was not emotionally ready to go outside and buy a new one. But I did it today, got my life together, and shall I get into the collection already?

The collection I’m talking about today is a continuation of the Sally Hansen and Crayola Insta-Dri collaboration polishes. Sally Hansen went and popped on us and dropped 12 new metallic shades. And I had to have them all. I got them all, through a combination of muling by great friends and ordering off of Walmart’s website. It was all worth it and I have these babies in my grabby hands.

Sista Chic ‘They Say It’s Your Birthday’ and ‘Moulin Rouge’ Trios

It’s a truly snowy and chilly wintery weekend, so I’m using that as an opportunity to hole up in my apartment and get some swatching done. It’s 3 degrees today, so I’m not leaving. I am one that loves the snow, so when it finally blizzarded this weekend, I loved it so much. It had been so cold and gray for a while, and it was just a depressing winter. If it’s going to be this cold and gray, a little snow just helps it out a little. Especially when they’re big fluffy flakes just dropping down. I went to college way up North in Michigan, so maybe that’s why I love it.

There’s lots of fun polishes to talk about, so let’s just get into it.

Essie Winter 2018 Collection

It’s blizzarding and snowing here the entire day as I swatched these, so I think it’s perfect for reviewing the last winter collection I had to talk about. WINTER FINALLY TRULY CAME TO CHICAGO. We’ve been in a cold snap, and all I’ve been saying if it’s going to be this cold, I want some snow to make it better. And it came true! We had big beautiful flakes just dropping on down and even as they pelted me in the face while I was waiting for the bus, it was just what I asked for. Call me nuts, but I love some snow for the winter.

Now, as I said with winter, I had one final winter collection to review!  (They’re already showing spring polishes and my god you have to be a season ahead to be on time). But it’s a WINTER REVIEW here!

This is the Essie collection for Winter 2018. And it’s of course a traditional 6 piece collection. I picked these up from transdesign.com. They had the best prices for Essies and their shipping is always so fast and well packed! Do recommend.

Now let’s get into the polishes!

Wet N Wild ‘Fire Dragon vs. Ice Dragon’ Collection

It’s finally DONE. This is one of those long posts that I looked at for so long, and just avoided since I knew it would take quite a while to finish up. I talk about this in my 2019 goals, I’M WORKING ON IT.

Heck, I’m sorry this all took so long. I did want to really take time and make sure I tested absolutely everything in this collection, along with wear tests. Oh I did that. And then I procrastinated more. This is my bad. But it’s here now, and this collection is still available to buy! So better late than never!

That’s right, you’re correct, I got another Wet N Wild collection box. I’m not ashamed and I WON’T BE STOPPED. I mean, you guys like it for the reviews right? I know this took a million years to finally review, but it’s a lot of products to review, and I wanted to fully test them all out, so it got a little pushed back behind others.

BUT HERE IT IS. It’s all here, it’s all been reviewed and tested thoroughly, and it’s all here for me to tell you about it. This post will be a NOVEL but you can skip about to the parts you really want to know, and I’ll stop talking and just get into it.

This collection is the ‘Fire Dragon vs. Ice Dragon’ collection (very Game of Thrones chic), and it’s still available both on Wet N Wild’s site, as well as Ulta’s. It retails for $39.99.

BoxOutside

Just like the one before this, the collection comes with a little pin as well. What will I do with this? Idk, but it’s cute.

Let’s get into this monster of a collection and review post. The products are in bold, so you can kind of pick and scroll to which products you’re most interested in. Or enjoy just seeing what I think about em all.

My 2019 Goals & Resolutions

This post is entirely too late. I mean, it’s already the 6th of January, and where has the time gone? I’ve sat down and continued honing and crafting this list of goals – to make them more specific, as well as streamline the rambling, and cut down the long paragraphs I originally had as I organized my thoughts (that’s right, this post was EVEN LONGER before this).

It’s the beginning of a new year, so of course (call it cliche if you will) it’s time for a resolutions post. Maybe this post is just for me, maybe you’ll find inspirations, maybe you do really care about what I want to improve this year, and help yell at me when I need to get back on track. Either way, I’ve written down my thoughts to have a record for them, as well as hold myself accountable. They’re defined in terms I know I can accomplish, and organizing makes it seem less overwhelming.

They’ve been split up into 3 categories, with separate goals underneath them. Blog Goals, of course, about my posting on my blog and Instagram. Collection Goals, all about the mass of makeup and nail polish I’ve acquired, as well as other items I own. And Personal Goals, on how I want to make small improvements for myself.

2019 is about being in love with myself, and the things I choose to surround myself with, and being the best possible version of me. I’m the only one who can make these small improvements, and make 2019 the best year yet.

Do you have any resolutions? Keep reading to see mine below, and Happy New Year.

Sinful Colors ‘Vanessa Hudgens’ Winter 2018 Collection

This is the most I’ve written in a week, and lemme tell you, it feels good. I’m still on a roll working through the mountain of posts that have built up (most of them are sitting on my desk back at my apartment), and it’s feeling so good to cross them all slowly off the list. These are all overdue, but it’s better late than never, and you can still find these products around. So let’s just keep going and get right into the post.

It’s another new Sinful Colors collection. This is another collection in collaboration with Vanessa Hudgens with 12 wintery shades. (Apparently there’s another summer collection from her that’s been slowly making its way over from Australia… hmmm… what’re you up to Vanessa..)

Right now I have the first 5 that have been released and spotted (also muled in to me, the Facebook group I’m in really enables me too much). If I’m able to find the next 7, I’ll be sure to add them to the post and update it. They’ve been found in Meijer stores, and apparently the next 7 will be too.

But let’s look at these 5 wintery shades that we have right now. Onto the swatches.

Sinful Colors ‘Jingle Jells’ Collection

I went on a monstrous swatch fest before I left for home so I would have lots of things to post with my free time. In that time, I swatched up TWO Sinful Colors collections to talk about. Look at me actually getting work done. Wild, I know.

Sinful Colors has been a little quieter this 2nd half of the year, and unfortunately they’ve been a little harder to find. I hope this means they’re just planning something big in the next upcoming year. Keeping that optimism since they were the brand I really started my blog with, and the one brand I love to pick up every new collection fun. They always have such unique finishes as such affordable prices, and I don’t know how I would feel if they left me.

But we’re not thinking about this, it’s never been said that’s happening. Instead, we’re looking at some new polishes for the holiday season!

This is the ‘Jingle Jells’ collection. It’s a group of 4 polishes labeled with ‘Jelly Topper’ stickers. They’re more jelly like bases with metallic glitter pieces all throughout.

I had these muled in from one of my sources, since they hadn’t shown up anywhere near me. However, they have been found at Rite-Aid and Big Lots (2 stores we either don’t have, or don’t have a ton of in Illinois)! They’re the normal $1.99 price as their permanent range.

Since these are labeled as ‘Jelly Toppers’, I showed them all here as 1 coat over a base shade, to show them off as toppers. I also have swatches of them built up on their own underneath as well! These all have similar formulas – they’re a more jelly finish, so they’re more sheer, but most can be built up on their own as well. They’re smooth, and distribute the glitters easily with just 1 coat, without having to place the pieces. Some are thicker than others, which I talk about, so let’s just get into the colors!

China Glaze ‘The Grinch’ Holiday 2018 Collection

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you’re all enjoying family time, or even just a nice break from work, and entirely too much food.

I’m at home at my parents for a week, so I’ll be using this precious time to just loaf around, eat a lot of cookies, and write a lot of posts. That’s right, I’m getting AHEAD in writing my posts. (I say this now, we’ll see how I do). So yes, that means lots of posts will be coming up, or at least they’ll be consistent in posting.

But today, we’re talking about a super festive collection, the China Glaze Holiday 2018 collection. This is full of lots of sparkle and shimmers and grinchy goodness.

I’m here, drinking spiked hot chocolate so I apologize in advance for any wayward commas or comments. I’m honestly just here living my best life.

So let’s just get right into the swatches already.

OPI ‘Nutcracker’ Holiday 2018 Collection

Y’all, it’s a huge collection, so I promise I won’t talk too much. But be ready for lots of posts coming up soon. I’m going to be at my parents house for a week for the holidays, so when I’m not annoying them and eating their food, I’m going to be working on writing up as many posts as I can and getting them ready to post. So be ready. (Sorry in advance, Mom and Dad).

Alright that’s enough rambling because we have a big-ass collection to get into today. This is the OPI Holiday 2018 collection which is inspired by the newest Nutcracker movie that came out. This is their traditional 12 shades, but 3 glitter toppers for a whopping 15 bottle group. I know right. BUT WE’LL GET THROUGH IT TOGETHER. There’s a ton of polishes and photos to get into, so let’s just do this.

Essie Concrete Glitters Collection

Hey, look at me posting a review of a collection when it’s still pretty relevant! It’s a Christmas miracle! But really, I want to get all caught up with holiday collections and everything, and then I might actually be ahead of the game for spring releases (but I digress, that’s way too far to think forward). WE’RE STILL ON THE HOLIDAYS, NO SPRING HERE. There’s lots of holiday posts on the way – because you know, we’re still ahead of the holidays.

Not quite actual holiday themed, but we have some fun sparkles to talk about now. This is the Essie Concrete Glitters collection, and Essie released it in between the fall and winter collections. I do love these for this time of year, they’re soft and sparkly, and just remind of sparkly snow (which we have none of here, but I won’t complain about THAT).

This is a 6 piece collection of textured, sparkly polishes. I actually picked these up as a set on eBay before they were listed on other sites, but they’re up now on Ulta’s website, as well as transdesign.com (a site I order from quite a lot! They have super fast shipping and cheaper prices).
