LA Colors ‘I Heart Makeup’ Highlight & Contour Palette

Guys, I’m graduating from college in exactly a month. Where has the time gone? Soon, I’ll be moving to Chicago and starting a real adult job (I gotta get a real adult job first whoop) and life is moving real fast but I’m excited.

I just  love to give you really personal things when you’re all just here for a review, yeah yeah I know, and it’s not going to stop. ANYWAYS.

Today, I have a super affordable product to review! It’s from the brand LA Colors. LA Colors is the brand you see boatloads of makeup from in Dollar Tree. They’re also sold in Dollar Generals and Family Dollar. You can also buy from their website at lacolors.com! (I feel like that’s a new thing and I’m so excited.) That’s super nice if you don’t have any of those stores near you as well.

Sinful Colors ‘Bayou Babes’ Sinful Shine Collection

Hello everyone! I’m back! If you follow my blog, or follow me on Instagram, you’ll see that I posted I would be a little MIA as I was finishing my big senior project for school. And while I have a couple more days of work on it, (it’s sending out for printing Wednesday!) it’s finally slowed down and I’ve been able to write up some posts in the breaks. What was it? Well I created a 40 page magazine about the food & drink in my town here! I interviewed everyone, wrote the articles, got the photos and designed it all – and now it’s going to be displayed in our art museum with the rest of the graduating seniors’ work. It’s crazy to believe it got done – and soon I can sleep again!

But what I really couldn’t believe was the amount of support that poured in from the beauty and Instagram community. It was incredible. My heart was so full from all the wishing of luck and sweet messages you all delivered. Ever since I joined this community, I’ve found nothing but open arms and new friends and support as we all just talk about the things we love. So I want to thank all of you who supported me – I couldn’t have stayed sane without this.

But now, I’m back and ready to post more than ever! Since this project is (pretty much) done, I’ll have more time to devote to blogging – and applying for a real adult job after graduation – AH. We’re not thinking about that right now. We’re thinking about pretty nail polish.

SO Sinful Colors put out 3 collections all at once, underneath a big theme of “Spring Trippin'”. There are 2 collections in their normal ‘Sinful Colors’ line called ‘Desert Divas’ – with the ‘Stoned Crystal Shimmer’ finish (I NEED THESE AND HAVEN’T BEEN ABLE TO TRACK THEM DOWN. I might have to put out a call for someone to find them for me), and the ‘Chic Chicas’ collection of creams – again, another one that I haven’t been able to find (my Walgreen supply has been TERRIBLE).

And then there’s a new Sinful Shine collection – which I actually did find, and am talking about today. This is an 8 shade collection – but there’s 5 new shades and 3 repromotes. The repromotes didn’t interest me too much, so I just picked up the new shades.

Like I mentioned, there’s 5 new shades, and they’re all this wonderfully shimmery finish. You can also tell them with their themed-New Orleans names. Since they’re the Sinful Shines, these retail for $2.99 a piece.

So let’s get into the shades – and back to blogging!

Sorry, I’ve been MIA.

Hey guys!

So you might have noticed that I’ve been a little MIA this week. And will be next week. Lemme explain.

I’ve mentioned before that I’m right in the middle of my final semester of college, crazy right? Well, during that senior semester, since I’m a graphic design major, part of the requirements is completing a semester long final project. We’re getting down into the final week of that project, so that means I’ll be super busy.

This means I’m not going to have time to post this next week, or even work on posts. But once this project is completed on April 2nd, I’ll finally be back – and much less stressed.

Until that time hang on with me, I promise I’ll be back and better than ever after that – posting about the new spring collections that have already come out (I know I’m already late but school comes first). So this was just the explanation of my absence, so it’s not just a cold shoulder from me.

I’ll see you all on April 3rd for a new post. Be sure to join me then.

Swatch/Review: Sinful Colors ‘Luck of the Stylish’ St. Patrick’s Day 2017

It’s almost St. Patrick’s Day, and lemme tell you, I AM PUMPED. I mean, I’m a senior in college, and it’s my last St. Paddy’s Day in college what can I say.

But it also means lots of new green nail polish, especially from Sinful Colors.

Today I have the 2017 Sinful Colors St. Patrick’s Day collection for 2017. It’s called ‘The Luck of the Stylish’ and there are 8 colors – I have 6 of them. The display at my Walgreens was pretty well cleaned out, so I couldn’t pick up the gold shade, ‘Gilded Goddess’, and ‘San Francisco’, the dark green cream. It looked like ‘San Francisco’ at least was a repromote – so I wasn’t too worried about that.

Either way, I have the other 6 shades to swatch at least! I have 3 repromotes, and 3 new shades. Let’s start with the new shades.

Swatch/Review: Wet N Wild Spring 2017 Limited Edition ‘Queen of My Heart’ Collection

Hello friends! The post you’ve been waiting for, and the makeup I never get tired of – limited edition Wet N Wild collections. BRING ON MORE. I LIVE FOR THE WHITE LIMITED EDITION PACKAGING.

Sorry this took so long – I was on Spring Break this week. You would think that would mean I would get a lot of work done with all my time. INCORRECT. My roommate and I went on down to Chicago – she had some job interviews and we had a blast otherwise!

But here it is now!

Anyways. I have all the products except for the lip palette – I don’t tend to use lip palettes at all, so I decided to pass. But I do have the highlighters, eyeshadow palettes, brush and cream color sticks! I was so happy to see new eyeshadow palettes in this collection – I missed out on the fall ones, so I was just itching to have some new Wet N Wild trios.

This collection is called the ‘Queen of My Heart’ collection, and features 2 highlighters, 3 eyeshadow palettes, 3 cream Lip & Cheek tints, a lip palette, and a new kabuki brush.

You can buy the whole collection now on Wet N Wild’s website – wetnwildbeauty.com – for $30. Hopefully the products will be available individually soon as well.

So there’s lots to talk about – let’s get right into it.

Walmart Haul! – New Hard Candy items + More

Whoops, been doing some shopping lately. I got my tax return back, so you know I just can’t be stopped. I’m not that much of an adult yet.

I decided to pop on over to Walmart (I literally only go there for the exclusive brands like Flower and Hard Candy) to see what goods I could find – I knew I needed a new foundation and concealer so this was the best place for a cheaper price on  some new items. The rest I just wanted because they were pretty.

Reviews on basically all of these products will be coming in the next few weeks as I test them out and really get to know them.

Let’s just get into it, shall we?

Review: City Color Cosmetics ‘Intense Blush Quads’ – Collections 1 & 2

Today’s post comes from the depths of archives of photos I have stashed in folders within folders. I haven’t had the time to create new posts lately because of school, so I wandered the folders to see if I had good photos from all the fruitless times before this I tried to (unsuccessfully) start and keep a blog. And I found some buried treasure!

Today’s post is about a loved product that’s been in my collection for a while, that’s still available today, and something I still recommend for many people! It’s very much like all of the blush palettes coming out in the drugstore recently (but City Color did it first).

This is from the brand City Color Cosmetics. Their products can be found in Five Below stores, or on their website. They have such affordable, quality products, and I can’t stop singing their praises.

quads

For this post I’m talking about their Intense Blush Quads. They have 4 different collections, and I have the original 2 collections to talk about today. These retail for $7.99 a piece on their website – or I picked mine up at my local Five Below for $5 a piece. They also have a deal on their website where you can pick up Collection 2 and Collection 4 for $12.99. Absolutely so affordable.

So let’s get right into it!

Letting Go of My First Makeup

Do you remember your first makeup?

I still remember the first little eyeshadow palette I got from one of my friends. It was her mom’s, and it had a purple shade right in the middle that I would just smudge into an area to add a “pop of color” into the mess of eyeshadows that I had already applied. It probably didn’t even show up, but you know, that was me experimenting.

I’ve recently been trying to use up a smattering of foundations I have, and I finished up my latest bottle of Revlon Colorstay. This was my who-knows-how-manyth bottle of this stuff, because I absolutely love it for its high coverage.

And it was the first real foundation I had as a teenager getting makeup. I remember, even back then, researching about the best high coverage foundation, one that would cover up the acne I had, as well as all of the other teenage insecurities.

I remember just caking this onto my face, thinking the best way to cover acne was to just add more layers. It was so heavy, and looked so obvious, but hey it was part of my first attempts at makeup – and something I think everyone has to go through really.

And then the other day while decluttering, I found this super old Contour and Blush kit from BH Cosmetics – truly my first love in brands of makeup, basically all of my brushes that I still use today are from BH Cosmetics. Look how dirty it is – it’s been through so many moves and being tossed from drawer to drawer.

It’s super old, and you can see where I used the crap out of that stark white shade, and too dark brown contour. I wish I could back and see what I looked like “contouring”. I’m sure it looked a little clownly.

paletteinside

I remember using that yellow and nude shade to clean up things as well as those blushes all the time. Caking more and more powder on top of already cakey foundation. But now they’re super old, and barely show up in swatches anymore, so it’s time to let it go. I have better contour sets that suit my skin tone as well.

I’m sure BH Cosmetics has changed this palette since then, and it was funny, right after I found it I saw the newest version at my local TJ Maxx the same day. It’s like life was trying to highlight it that day.

So even though I’m letting these things go, it’s always funny to think back on where my makeup journey started – with the muddy, crazy contours, bright unblended eyeshadows, and cakey foundations. They’re nostalgic, and they make me smile. It makes me think of how far I’ve come in my makeup journey, as well as how much more I have to go.

What were some of your first makeup items?

And do you remember some of your “regrettable” first makeup choices? I cringe, then laugh just thinking about mine.

But if anything, they make us who we are today.

Review: New Wet N Wild – MegaCushion Highlight

Here’s the last of the reviews on the new Wet n Wild products I have currently – at least of the permanent additions. I just found the limited edition Spring 2017 collection so I’ll be reviewing that and getting that up soon! But for now, let’s look at this next product!

Cushion products are all the rage in the beauty community right now, so it’s no surprise that Wet N Wild hopped on the train. However, they took it one step further, coming out with color correcting, highlight + contouring, and also cushion lipsticks. I need to pick up more!

Today I have the ‘MegaCushion Highlight’. This is just like all the cushion foundations coming out lately, but obviously a highlighter! This retails for $5.99 and comes in 1 shade, called ‘Who’s that Pearl’. It’s to note that I didn’t realize how small it was. It fits right in the palm of my hand – so not terrible to store.

Review: Wet N Wild – Megaglo Makeup Sticks – Highlight + Contour

We’re continuing on with the week of Wet N Wild reviews! I have picked up a few of their new products and have been testing them out for a while, so I couldn’t wait to review them. There’s one more review (for now, until I buy more products) coming after this, so stay tuned! (Did you guys see they just dropped their limited edition Spring 2017 collection? I’m sweating already. I adjusted my titles of posts so as not to confuse people).

Today’s review is on the new cream highlight and contour sticks! Let’s get right into it.

They are called the ‘MegalGlo Makeup Sticks’ and I have the Highlight and Contour shades. They also have Conceal and Blush shades in the same format. As you can see, they’re just traditional chubby cream sticks with a clear plastic top.
