You know when you have one really productive day – I swatched like 3 full collections! – and then the next day you go to hot yoga in the morning and throughout the rest of the day, the productivity is gone because you have to fight to stay awake anytime you sit down in your comfy chair? (Can you tell I just started working out again regularly). Well it happened, and that is why this review and post took an extra day to get finished up. I’M ONLY HUMAN. I realize that you only know it took an extra day because I’m telling you, and I create these “deadlines” for myself, but what can I say, we overshare here on this blog.
But at least now I got a built up stash of swatches, so you guys know that there are a lot of posts and reviews coming your way.
Now let’s look at this collection! We’re looking at our very first official spring collection today. This is the OPI Mexico City collection for Spring 2020. As with every OPI collection, it’s inspired by the colors of a certain place, and obviously this is inspired by Mexico City! This is a standard 12 piece collection, mainly made up of cream shades.
As always, I picked this up from polishpick.com. They’re my favorite place to buy new OPI shades (as well as throw in some older polishes I’ve never owned every so often). They have the best prices still (only $5.25 a bottle, instead of $10 from most drugstores!) and their shipping is so incredibly fast and I always have my polish in under a week, usually just a couple days. I know I gush about them a lot, but I’ve literally ordered all of my OPI collections from them since 2018, and I can’t say enough about it. (And if you do order from their site and found it through this blog, you can put in my name in the dropdown – I receive no commission from this, it just shows where traffic is coming from and allows me to purchase shades at more of a PR discount to review).
It’s the first day of summer! I got my butt into gear to give you the first post of the summer collections on the first day of summer! – Eh, eh, you see what I did there?
While I was in Europe, I saw a post about a flash sale on this collection, and bought it right up. The whole collection for $50 – shipped! Considering OPI normally retails for $10 a bottle, that’s a steal. Seriously, follow ‘Skyline Beauty Supply’ on Instagram, as they’re always offering 24 Hour Flash Deals on the newest collections. I’ve ordered from them a couple times and have been super satisfied – their shipping is so fast as well!
Anyways, the OPI Summer 2017 collection is called ‘California Dreaming’ and is a standard 12 bottle collection. It features 10 creams, and 2 metallics, based on the state of California! It’s a collection of a small shade range, featuring pinks, reds and orange tones.
I know, I know. I’m a little late to the game with this, but I’m still posting it. Hey man, it’s my blog isn’t it? I’ll have the summer collection from OPI coming up soon as well!
But for now, let’s stick to spring. As usual this is a 12 piece collection (OPI is how I go bankrupt with these 12 piece collections), full of mostly creams inspired by the tropical island of Fiji. I picked mine up off Ulta’s website when I had a buy one get one free coupon for OPI.
Into the swatches! Comparisons will also be at the bottom! My lighting is a little different on this one too – I’m at my parents house so I went with good ol’ fashioned daylight! But they’re all color accurate.
I’m terrible at remembering to touch up my lip colors, so liquid lipsticks and other longwearing lip colors are often my best friends. So when I saw a display of new LA Colors Liquid Lips at my local Shopko (hey-o Upper Peninsula), I had to snatch some. I’m always on the lookout for cheap liquid lipsticks.
LA Colors was always known to me as the brand in Dollar Tree that offered pretty cheap makeup that felt cheap. But now, they’re releasing a lot of new and improved products, and I’ve been pretty impressed so far.
These are their ‘Matte Liquid Lip Colors’ and these retail for $3 (I found them for $2.50 at my Shopko) and you can find them at Family Dollar and Dollar General (and for those in the UP, Shopko), as well as on LA Color’s website now! They have 18 shades total.
Today I have a review of a Hard Candy product. If you don’t know, Hard Candy is a brand available exclusively at Walmart. You can buy them on Walmart.com – which thank god, they seem to be better at putting their new products up. (I’m going to be moving away from access to a Walmart, where I only go for Hard Candy, Flower, and the other Walmart exclusives, so that’s a relief for me that I don’t have to leave them). ANYWAY.
This is the Sheer Envy ‘Prismatic Highlighter’. It claims to give “an Iridescent effect on skin” and retails for $6.
I’m trying my best to catch up on all the spring collections. THERE’S JUST SO MANY. But we’re getting there. And I mean, it’s technically still spring. Spring just arrived in the UP 2 weeks ago, so I’m technically right on time. That’s right, I’m making excuses for myself – it’s my blog, I do what I want.
Better late than never I say.
Anyways, as you can see from the title, we’re looking at the Essie Spring collection! You know, OPI is my one true love, but Essie is slowly creeping into my heart as well. Especially with this collection – spoiler alert. Ever since I’ve gotten into blogging, and therefore been reviewing the newest Essie collections, they’ve been killing it on formulas.
And this collection is no exception, so let’s get right into it.
This spring collection is another 6 bottle collection, like normal. It features 6 cream colors. Onto the swatches!
It’s almost St. Patrick’s Day, and lemme tell you, I AM PUMPED. I mean, I’m a senior in college, and it’s my last St. Paddy’s Day in college what can I say.
But it also means lots of new green nail polish, especially from Sinful Colors.
Today I have the 2017 Sinful Colors St. Patrick’s Day collection for 2017. It’s called ‘The Luck of the Stylish’ and there are 8 colors – I have 6 of them. The display at my Walgreens was pretty well cleaned out, so I couldn’t pick up the gold shade, ‘Gilded Goddess’, and ‘San Francisco’, the dark green cream. It looked like ‘San Francisco’ at least was a repromote – so I wasn’t too worried about that.
Either way, I have the other 6 shades to swatch at least! I have 3 repromotes, and 3 new shades. Let’s start with the new shades.
