Essie Summer 2018 Collection

We’re continuing on with the summer collections! We’re basically halfway through the summer now! How’s it been for you? I’ve honestly had a great summer so far, and am looking forward to some cooler temperatures and sunny days.

I’ve got a typical 6 bottle collection from Essie to talk about today! It’s loosely based on the festival theme we’ve been seeing pop up throughout all the makeup and nail collections. There are 4 creams and 2 shimmers. Let’s get right into it!

Wet N Wild ‘Flights of Fancy’ Nail Polish Collection

With Wet N Wild’s recent summer collection, the ‘Flights of Fancy’, they also put out a fun little nail collection! It’s been so long since they’ve put out any limited edition shades of their polish (their Megalast formula is SO good) and I’ve really missed them. The limited edition shades were always so good, and it was before I was really into blogging, so I missed out on all the pretties.

So when I saw they had this, I knew I had to pick it up, because of the crazy collector in me. It quickly sold out on the website, but I stumbled upon it at my local grocery store not too long after, and basically danced in the aisles. I know it might be a little hard to find, but it’s out there somewhere! And I still just wanted to show them in case someone saw them!

These are definitely smaller bottles. They’re only 0.24 fl oz, whereas in comparison a normal bottle of OPI or most other polishes is 0.5fl oz. So they’re about half the size of a normal bottle of polish. These were $2 each as well, so still very affordable.

Since they’re part of the ‘Flights of Fancy’ collection, they have the same detailing on the caps that the glosses had as well. Definitely fun to have out to display.

Let’s get into the formulas and swatches!

OPI Grease Summer 2018 Collection

We’re continuing on with all the reviews – lord, they’re already announcing fall and Halloween collections. AH. But for me it’s still summer, and we’re working our way through summer collections. So of course, it’s time for the OPI Summer collection.

GREASE IS THE WORD, IS THE WORD. Okay I’m done. But come on, it’s a collection based on Grease! An icon! A classic! So of course, with its 40th anniversary this year, OPI based their whole summer collection on it. With Grease themed names, and some fun textures as well, we got a lot of fun to talk about.

So of course, as always OPI does a whole 12 piece collection. And then they added 3 more ‘Leather Like’ finish polishes. So that was 15 shades to swatch and talk about. Lord, OPI you kill me. But I love you too much.

Let’s get into this shall we since there’s gosh dang 15 polishes to talk about here. Yeesh, I tell ya, I’ll try to be short, but you know how I am. I can’t be blamed for having to talk about 15 polishes in one post.

Sinful Colors ‘Boho Beat’ Collection

Well, it’s been a while. I’ve missed you all. I feel weird not posting in so long. But you know, life got busy. I’ve got a full time job + freelancing on the side, besides this blog, so sometimes the posts just don’t happen. But I miss it! I missed posting, and I hate not posting regularly. So here we go, prepare for all the posts. I’ve got a lot to make up for.

So here we’re starting with a little small one. This might be a little old news, but these are still beautiful polishes, and there’s a chance you can still find them out at a Walgreens or a Rite Aid (or have a lovely person send them to you when you don’t have a Rite Aid anywhere near you).

This is a small little collection from Sinful Colors, called ‘Boho Beat’. It’s made up of 3 new shades. (There’s more Sinful collections on the way as well).

We only got 3 polishes to swatch here, so let’s just get right into it!

Orly ‘Neon Earth’ Summer 2018 Collection

It’s the first of summer posts! Before summer officially starts! I don’t know about you guys, but we had our one official week of summer here in Chicago. Memorial Day weekend, it was in the 90s and beautiful all week, and now it’s gone away, back down to 60s and 70s. Selfish of me to want more, I know.

But enough about the hot weather already come and gone, let’s talk about some bright polishes!

Starting off the season again with Orly, which is becoming one of my favorite brands really. Let’s get into it.

Sally Hansen + Crayola ‘Spring Fling’ Pastels Collection

It’s been busy, lemme tell you. I do my best to keep up with consistent posting, but sometimes life gets in the way, and you know, I gotta remind myself that that’s okay. This isn’t my job – I have a full time job, as well as doing freelance on the side, so lord, sometimes it gets busy over here. But no matter what, I love nail polish and makeup, and I always love coming back to these posts and this community. So even if it’s a couple days or a week, I’ll always be wearing and buying too much nail polish and I’ll be posting.

But now, it’s a wonderfully stormy night as I’m sitting wrapped up writing this, watching old seasons of America’s Next Top Model, and life is good, y’all. And I’ll stop getting mushy now.

Life is good because Sally Hansen has expanded their Crayola line! Last summer Sally Hansen put out the first collection of the Crayola Insta-Dri polishes. There were 12 colors of bright pops of primary and traditional crayon colors. (You can still find these at stores and on Target’s website – they’re fantastic).

So of course when it was suddenly announced that they were expanding the line with 6 pastels for spring, I had to jump on it immediately.

I picked up these lovely beauties as soon as they showed up on Target’s website. There, they were $3.99 but they seem to be sold out now. But all 6 colors are still available on Ulta’s website for $4.99. (And you might still be able to find these in displays in stores).

So let’s get right into it, shall we? We’ve been waiting long enough for more of these pretty Crayola beauties.

China Glaze ‘Chic Physique’ Collection

It’s been a little while! I was doing so well at keeping up a steady stream of reviews, and then of course life happens. I got busy during the week, and then my mom came down and visited! We finally saw Hamilton – the off broadway version, but it was still so good! I finally understand the hype and the show.

And so I’m finally finishing up the spring collection posts – it’s not summer until June 21st remember.

Rounding out the spring posts, I have the China Glaze ‘Chic Physique’ collection. This is of course a 12 piece collection, and reminded me constantly of how I should be out running while I was swatching it. Whoop, there are always other days.

You know, enough rambling, let’s just get right into it!

Nails Inc ‘Self Made Mermaid’ Duo

It’s been storming here lately so much, and I’ve been LOVING it. It’s perfect for staying inside, listening to the rain hit the window, and swatching like a mad man. I got a lot of photos taken this weekend of products, so I’m testing out so many things, and I can’t wait to review them all for you.

In this post, I’m talking about a duo from Nails Inc! If you’re at all involved in the polish world like I am, you’ll have seen these duos popping up and being talked about all over. And after I saw the two polishes in this one, I knew I had to pick up this one to try first.

These retail for $15 for the two polishes – a deal considering one is normally $15 on its own. And you can buy them through Sephora, so you can get the points through there if you have them. They have quite a few duos out, but this was the one I wanted to test out first. Let’s get on into the post!

Zoya Earth Day Haul 2018!

It’s that time of year again where I have my Zoya Earth Day Haul! If you’re not aware of it, every year during the month of April for Earth Day, Zoya offers 50% off all of their polishes, making them $5 each.

I’m at the point where I honestly order from Zoya twice a year – during the Earth Day sale, and during the Black Friday sale. I never pay full price for polishes, so ordering them at $10 at any other point of the year is something I can’t bring myself to do yet.

I also love the Earth Day sale for the recycling aspect of it. After you order, you can send any polishes you don’t want, from any brand, back to Zoya with your invoice and they’ll safely recycle them for you. It really makes me sit down, and go through my collection, and get rid of polishes that I know I won’t wear, whether it’s because of formula or just not loving the color on me. It’s what inspired me to start getting my colors all down on swatch sticks as well! (That project has halted a little while I’m busy swatching).

So I went through my wishlist, and watched favorites videos from both JoyfulBeauty and PaintThosePiggies on YouTube (I have to credit them for a lot of my choices) and “narrowed” it down to 12 polishes.

I ordered these by color, because as you go down, there’s definitely a theme. I was very much feeling the springy, cool-toned shades… Enough rambling, we got a lot of polishes to swatch.
