China Glaze Gone West Fall 2019 Collection

I’m going full fall today, everyone. I’m finishing up this post this morning, and then later today heading out with my friends to go apple picking and corn maze-ing for a full day of AUTUMN. I can’t wait, and I’m so excited. I missed out on some more “traditional” fall activities last year, so I can’t wait to fully enjoy the season. It’s finally chilly and I feel my power returning with every sweater I put on.

And of course, let’s continue talking about fall polishes! Up today we’re talking about the China Glaze collection for Fall 2019. This is the ‘Gone West’ collection, and it contains 8 polishes. (I’ve been loving China Glaze’s smaller collections lately, it’s definitely easier to knock out 8 swatches in a night than 12).

I picked these up from polishpick.com, my favorite place for OPIs and China Glaze. (If you do order from there, there’s a dropdown to put in my name! It helps me get discounts on all of the polishes I buy to review! But no pressure, and don’t feel obligated. I don’t get any compensation from it besides a slight blogging discount).

Let’s get into the polishes!

‘Prairie Tale Ending’ is a yellow toned light cream shade. It had some streaks, and still showed the ridges in my nails on the 1st coat, but it was easily opaque with a 2nd coat. A nice smooth cream formula!

Most light cream shades I have like this are more cool and pink toned, so this is definitely more unique to my collection. It’s surprisingly much more perfect for autumn than I realized once I got it on my nails. I’ll wear it as a break from vampy shades every so often (if I ever want a break from vampy nails, let’s be honest).

‘Lawless & Flawless’ is a more warm toned pink base with tons of gorgeous coppery-gold shimmer throughout. This had a sheer 1st coat, and I did still have a touch of nail line on the 2nd coat. I ended up doing a 3rd thin coat to cover up any patches and smooth everything out.

Especially with shorter nails, I suggest doing thinner coats and building it up slowly. I found that with too thick of coats, it could get too gloopy and pool at the end of the nails. Definitely thinner coats.

But look at that gorgeous shimmer.

‘Take the High Rodeo’ is in the same family as ‘Lawless & Flawless’ above. It’s a deeper mauve base with more gold shimmer. The gold shimmer is smaller, and more dense than L&F above.

It had a smooth 1st coat, with some nail line leftover. A 2nd coat easily covered it and made it fully opaque.

We love that gold shimmer.

‘Campfired Up!’ is a gorgeous bright red cherry red cream shade. This had an absolutely STUNNING formula, and was so smooth and opaque in just 1 coat. Even with China Glaze’s thinner brush, this painted on opaque without any work.

It’s a touch deeper, and has some coolness to it, that just looks so good. I can’t wait to wear this one more often.

‘Gold Mine Your Business’ is a yellow gold shimmer with scattered holographic sparkles. I still had some slight nail line after 2 thinner coats, so I ended up doing a 3rd to cover it up. It can look patchy from different angles, but it’s fully opaque in 3 thinner coats.

I love that soft lil sprinkling of holographic glitters in the polish. Definitely differentiates her from my other gold polishes! And just makes it so much sparklier and glitzier.

‘Buffalo Bills, Bills, Bills’ has been a crowd favorite (both in name and color) and it’s easy to see why. This is a gorgeous deep what seems like brown base with a shifty green-gold shimmer and shift to it. It almost shifts to a coppery look as well in different angles.

With a thinner 1st coat, it can look a little streaky and light. With a 2nd coat, it gets fully opaque and deepens up to match the color in the bottle. This is another that can look patchy from different angles, but it’s fully opaque in just 2 coats.

Honestly, perfect for fall. Look at all of those fall shifty colors on one nail. China Glaze, you went for it, and I love it. Please keep going for it.

‘Cattle Drive Me Crazy’ is a deep smoky metallic blue shade. This was another with a beautiful formula, and it was opaque easily in just 1 coat. And for being more metallic, it’s smooth and any brushstrokes disappeared and leveled easily.

It’s got a super soft subtle shimmer to it, but it just comes across as more metallic on the nails.

Last up we have ‘Cowboy, Bye’. Honestly, the name is a mood, we ain’t got time for cowboys when there are a lot of beautiful sweaters and shoes to look at. (I’m in a new wardrobe mood).

Anyways, this polish! This is a deep brown shade with a gorgeous copper shift to it, and the same type of scattered holographic sparkles as ‘Gold Mine Your Business’. Another easy formula that was pretty well opaque in 1 coat. With a 2nd, the color deepens up and the sparkles and shift are even more apparent, and it’s just stunning.

I’m in love with this polish, okay. If I could BE a fall polish, I would pick this one. It’s just those holographic sparkles.

And that’s the China Glaze Gone West collection! This actually had some unique shades overall that I ended up loving! And I loved the color scheme overall, it was definitely fun and something different for a fall color palette! The two deeper shades, ‘Cowboy, Bye’ and ‘Buffalo Bills, Bills, Bills’ were my definite favorites and recommendations for more interesting colors.

Overall, formulas were good in this as well. There were a couple that needed 3 thinner coats to get fully opaque, but they were still smooth and easy to paint on.

Comparisons of this collection will be coming up soon!

  1. You make Buffalo Bills, Bills, Bills look so gorgeous here! I feel like every swatch I see looks different and most haven’t captured the green tones well like you have, most swatches I’ve seen look just brown. Might have to grab this one *__*
